Islam is a very peaceful religion and way of life. True Muslims pray 5 times a day, fast during the month of Ramadan, give alms to the poor, and love and respect one another. What you see on tv is the minority, the extremists. But, that kind of television is what makes money, so that is what you will see. You will never see the billions of decent, hard working, God-loving Muslims...
Asking a question like this here will get you all kinds of ignorant answers. Please put a little time into researching Islam yourself and then form your own, EDUCATED opinion.

Well, the islams say that the koran says many good things, that islam is a religion of peace, that the terrorists are just a few.
But all of the above just doesn't work.
What we see is that the islams are full of violence, hatred, and evil. We don't see anything good from the islam. Look what happened with the Pope. He made some commentaries meaning that religion and violence should not go together, and ALL of the islams are screaming murder.
It is like the islams saying: "How does the Pope dare to say that we are violent and evil !" "We will kill him and anybody else who repeats that slander." "We are people of peace."
"Death to anyone who says otherwise"

Islam places great emphasis on logic and education. If you want to know about Islam as a religion, read. If you want to know about the way of life of Muslims, it varies widely across many cultures. I'm an American Muslim. My culture and way of life is very different from that of Pakistani or Arab or Indonesian (or whatever) Muslims.

Hmm...First of all..As a religion Islam is the religion of peace. It makes people to be kind, helpful and healthy..For example drink is not allowed. Why?Because it's harmful to us..It's a way of life because it's very different from other religions and life styles..It's 100% true..For example Christians go to church.Sometimes they talk about their sins with a person like Papa (I forgat their name) and then he forgives the person who told his/her sins. It's a sin in Islam. Why?Because people must tell about their sins to direct Allah/God.And nobdy expect Allah/God can forgive someone.I think u will agree with me..Muslims must be helpful and kind...I hope I helped you. Have a nice day! :-)

islam bein a "way of life" is bcuz we believe in no god but Allah .. n we know that HE's everywhere .. n he knows all.... so we cant hide from him.....
secondly.. we also know that the we r goin to be accountable for the SINS we do.. n nobody else can help us at the doomsday from Gods wrath...
so we try not to sin as much as we can
the following r a few examples..( keep in mind that we try our level best not to do sins cuz we know Allah's watching)
for example... LYING is one of the greatest
sins in islam..
we r not allowed to BACKBITE... in the Quran it is stated that backbiting is just like eating ur own brothers flesh
any relationship out of marriage is NOT allowed therefore.. we usually have a very STABLE family
etc etc

Islam, like ALL religion is a load of crap. As a way of life, it is a limited existence based on a fraud against rationality.

The purpose of our creation is to worship God. Worship in Islam can encompass any daily activity as long as it is done to please God. If we obey God and His messengers then we are rewarded for that.
Islam is based on five pillars:
1) Belief in One God, the Creator of all the Universe and that which is in it
2) Establishing regular prayers 5 times a day
3) Fasting the month of Ramadhan
4) Paying Zakaah to the poor and needy every year (this is 2.5 % of our savings in any given year)
5) Performing the Hajj (pilgrimage) at least once in our lifetime
There are Six articles of faith or belief in Islam:
1) Belief in One God ( with no son or partner)
2) Belief in the Angels inc Gabriel, Mikail
3) Belief in the various Prophets and Messengers sent by God throughout time to guide people to the truth including Muhammad (pbuh) the last of the Messengers, Jesus (PBUH), Moses (PBUH), Abraham (PBUH), Adam (pbuh)
There is no difference between any of the Messengers.
4) Belief in the various books revealed by God.. the last of which is the Quran, revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and is the word of God. Other books we believe in are the Gospel, Torah and the Psalm although these have been corrupted and changed over time and therefore there was need for the revelation of the Quran.. which is exactly the same word for word since revelation over 1400 years ago!
5)Belief in Predestination
6)Belief in the Day of Judgment, when all people will be resurrected and judged according to their deeds. Those with more good deeds will enter heaven. and those with few good deeds will enter Hell by the Will of Allah.. and Allah knows best as to the deeds of the people.
As to Islam as a way of life I will quote to you part of the conversation of Jaf'ar Ibn Abi Talib ( the cousin of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) with the Christian Emperor Negus, when the muslims fled from persecution from the Arab pagans:
He said:
" O King, we were a people in a state of ignorance and immorality, worshipping idols and eating the flesh of dead animals, committing all sorts of abomination and shameful deeds, breaking the ties of kinship, treating guests badly and the strong among us exploited the weak.
We remained in this state until God sent us a Prophet, one of our own people whose lineage, truthfulness, trustworthiness and integrity were well known to us
He called us to worship one God alone and to renounce the stones and idols which we and our ancestors used to worship besides God
He commanded us to speak the truth, to honour our promises, to be kind to our relations, to be helpful to our neighbours, to cease all forbidden acts, to abstain from bloodshed, to avoid obscenities and false witness, not to appropriate an orphan's property nor slander chaste women.
He ordered us to worship God alone and not to associate anything with Him, to uphold Prayer, to give Zakat and fast in the month of Ramadhan.
We believed in him and what he brought to us from God and we follow him in what he has asked us to do and we keep away from what he forbade us from doing"
For those who are sincere in searching for the truth, Truth is clear from falsehood. I would recommend reading a translation of the Quran and decide for yourself as to the truth of it.
