Dogs are protective by nature and night is when predators attack. The Dog barks to let other know of something approaching and to let the object know that the dog is aware of their presence.

Also some vehicles make noises that bother dogs.

Part of it can also be psychological. My dog doesn't bark at vehicles but is now scared of trucks cause one hit him while taking a dump on the side of the road. (And yes the guy was driving on the wrong side of the road.)

Domesticated dogs bark to warn others of the entry of unfamiliar people. In earlier days, dogs were trained to bark to alert thier masters. This has continued by thier future generations. However there is an all new sound comp technology in the form of a dog silencer pro remote control which sweeps through a variety of frequencies to target the barking with the right frequency. This silencer which could fit on a tiny keychain which uses an all new sound generating component called a high pressure transducer, which is triggered by the barking of a dog. You could manually activate the bark controlling power of the dog. This remote control also allows you to customise the training of yours or your neighbours dog.

1. Normally, to a dog, any source of light is supposed to be still. That's what they understand!

2. A dog's average tendency is to run after or bark at anything that does not seem normal to them!

Now, to them, the source of light moving is disturbing!

If you observe, they don't run after your vehicle. They try to run beside your vehicle. They are actually tryimg to chase the light. Stop your vehicle and they just go off!!!

If the source of light is moving, that looks unnatural to them!

That's why they run beside any vehicle at night!

Hope that clarifies!

Barking is a product of domestication. Wolves which are thought to be the ancestors of dogs, rarely bark.In early days people favoured barking of dogs,to act as a warning system for people to alert them to unfamiliar people or animals. However genetic predisposition maybe one of the reasons.

For fun. They have an instinct of chasing sheep around or other animals, they know these are cars, but it is their game to compete with them.
