I have noticed many Atheist on here who admit that they where Christians prior to their conversion. Don't you think that once you except Jesus as your savior, you're a christian for life... Once you except Christ, you are a Christian...there is no going back. Just like loosing your virginity. Once you loose it, you'll never be a virgin again. Just pretending it didn't happen, doesn't make it go away.

I believe that once you accept Christ no man can pluck you out of his hand. Now consider this...some may say that they have accepted Christ, but in reality they never did. So, in my humble opinion Atheists were never true christians to begin with.

Even tho someone once accepted Jesus, they may have gone astray...pulled away from truth, from other influences of this world. It's sad, and altho they have a right to embrace Atheism, it's their choice, they have hardened their hearts...They may have turned their backs on the truths they once knew.
I am hopeful tho, that even the most hardened, can find their way back; even tho they proclaim to no longer be a Christian.
God can perform miracles, and even this is not too hard for God, so many, so called Atheists, might have a change of heart, and return to Christianity...

I never accepted jesus as a savior. I just went to church and went through the routine. When I started reading on my own and asking questions that could not be answered, I made up my mind.

Not necessarily. If you CHOOSE not to believe (as an atheist) and turn you back on Jesus, then I say you are not. Hello...Lucifer. Remember he was an Angel at God's side and got Jealous of us humans and how God loved and gave to us. And he started a war and lost, so God cast him and his non believers out of heaven. Now he is in what we call Hell. I don't think he still has Jesus in his heart. I think you can return from a non believer to a believer. But if you don't believe and keep turning your back on him, with conscious actions, then to me you don't have him in your heart anymore.

Hard question there, I'm not sure how that would work. True once you accept Crist you are a Christian and saved. But to just turn your back on him like that after first believing.. I don't really know.

hey yuuuu

I piddy dah foo if ya think being a Jesus dude is limited to those churchy folks...

my perception...Jesus said the kindom of god is not outwards with 2nd comings and clouds and swords and wars, but an inward coming or enlightenment when people look inside for their own salvation, and do things or show the characteristics of Jesus with compassion, social justice, etc without the label of christianity and usually many athiests are more compassionate as they "Love all, serve all" (Hard Rock Cafe)

I also feel there is no 'hell' just what we create by our exclusion and intollerance or hate of others including rejecting ourselves

I'd only agree that it probably continues to be a part of you, as any experience would, but it ceases to be the defining factor of your life. I don't pretend that it didn't happen, or even that I didn't gain anything useful from that period of my life, but I have moved forward. I evolved. I found that Humanists believe in all the best things I believed while I was religious, but for reasons that make sense, stripped of all the meaningless mumbo-jumbo. Casting off the shackles of superstition and blind faith brings a great feeling of relief and freedom.

No, because the premise of Christianity is false to begin with. Jesus died a long time ago, all you are doing when you "let Jesus into your heart" is fooling yourself into believing that you are privy to some blissful afterlife. Nothing really happens.

I pity the fool who asks Jebus to move in, then can't get him to leave when he wears out his welcome.

I asked as a youngster to be included in the Christ club, but I never got that super-dooper feeling you're supposed to get when he moves in. So, I'm not going to be dragged kicking and screaming into heaven any time soon. LOL

Jesus is a dead guy, if he even existed.

Sorry, but that's like saying, "If you believed in Santa Claus once, you always believe in him." That doesn't make sense. What we believe to be true changes over time as we learn more.
