Adam and Eve and the whole incest thing?

Question

If Adam and Eve where the first two people on earth and they had two children where did the rest of us come from? Did Cain and Able sleep with their mum???

For something that is supposed to be fact or at least the basis of sucha wide spread religion, there is an awful lot of conflicting theories

1. No record of Abel having had any children before Cain murdered Abel.

2. If you read the Bible you will see that Adam & Eve had other children also.

3. Jewish tradition says that Adam and Eve had 33 sons and 23 daughters.

4. In years to come, as the results of the Fallen nature became more prominent, Incest was forbidden because (a) illness and disease would be more probable and (b) with more of a diverse selection of humans there was no need to marry a close relative.

5. Since God started the human race with just one man and one woman, then obviously in those VERY EARLY times what would later be unacceptable was acceptable .... i.e., marrying of brother/sister. Certainly no indication, though, of mother/son liasons.

Listen up. At the time this story was written people still thought the earth was flat. Male and female had sex but could not connect this act to having a baby nine months later. Dyeing of influenza was being struck down by god. Drinking water through lead pipes was normal practise. Throwing people at lions for fun. We were and still are in our infancy and we are learning not to be so gullible. There is no Santa, need i say more. A lot of things happened then, that we can now explain. Thinking about Evolution would be a good place to start.

Its very simple really. When the story of Adam and Eve was written it was meant for simple thinking people and the best way to get a lesson across those days was with a simple story. Remember they were not all 'smart alecs' like the way we all are today. Can't help thinking that what we gained in IQ etc we have lost in our spiritial values. Now who is simple.
Forget about the logistics of the story and see its meaning which is much more vital for us all.

Those are metaphores that are told to children to help them understand, just like Noah's ark. Part of the stories are true. When you get older you learn this in Catholic High School. There was an Adam and Eve, but the things they did were not factual.

Checking your profile I can see you are more than intelligent enough to know that this theory (or fairy tale) is complete BS! But the really sad bit is that lots of people do believe it all to be a fact !!
Christians believe that Jesus was and is God, he was his own Son, he is the Holy Trinity!! All just as stupid as Adam and Eve!
But little kids believe in Santa, no harm in any of that really until the arguments start!!
I really pity anyone who tries to 'prove' any of this religious cra*! Esp' by using 'proof' from a 'Holy book'

Eve was created from Adam's rib. Not sure about cain and able though. Maybe they also had the power to create women from their ribs.

Its a good point however the bible does NOT say that other humans were around at the time. It maybe a case that other humans were around and just simply ignored in the Bible. As the bible does not shed any light into this.

My feeling is that their must have been other humans around. I dont think incest occured.
