You can get a copy of your birth certificate by contacting the Vital Statics in your county or the county court house. You'll need to know your mother's maiden name.

Do you know where she was born? Usually the county court house has archived records or you can go to a people search web site that does geneology or ancestory...you usually have to pay and most dont have a guarentee.

If you are in US, you have to know what state she was born in. Go to the vital record section of the state web site. They tell you what you need to do to get it. Most of the time you can order online (with affidavit). If you don't know what state, you need to at least guess and try one state at a time.
