at what stage do you decide enough is enough and someone in authority should be informed? One of the children appears to be rather 'simple' for want of a better word and I feel sorry for them hearing the language coming from their house. I've no reason to believe there's physical assaults as such, though I did see the yobbo father grab hold of his son's collar to drag him indoors.I don't know these people to speak to so I can't have a tactful word with them or anything.

What they are doing is called Mental Abuse, it is just as bad as physical abuse, my neighbours were just the same with her kids, it broke my heart listening to her scream and swear at her kiddies so I phoned the welfare department and asked them if there was anything they could do, they visited her in her own home without warning her they were coming, I do not know what happened but she rarely shouts or swears these days so maybe a good warning has made her think twice about it and I know if she starts again I will do the very self same thing, its not fair and its not right, there are enough damaged kids out there as it is.

These people may not be raising their children in a way that you personally deem fit, but that is not a reason to call authoritys on them. Unless you can honestly come up with a reason that you feel the children are in danger, let it go. It's 2006 and many parents swear and carry on in ways that would make the parents of yesteryear cringe.

Ah...discipline, lovely discipline - not like it was in my day. But seriously, we are in a time where if anyone did come forward to do something about it, their kids will probably be the first to show their appreciation by letting go a mouthful at us also!

You could call children protective services and explain what you witness and they will take it from there.Probaly not much they will do because its not physical.I think this is anonomyus when you call so you dont have to worry about that.i agree there is no reason for cursing at them.But you dont know the whole situation around that either as for the screaming.Maybe the child is very stubborn and thats the only way he listens is being blunt towards him I dont know i cant say.

How about takin the time to talk to the kids, if u can find out what THEYwant first

Alerting the authorities doesn't always work as they have a lot more serious issues to deal with every day.

If it looks as though there's no physical violence, they're fed and clean then I wouldn't interfere. It must be heartbreaking but social services in this country are useless. They 'might' come and talk to them, but nothing else would be done and you would have to live next door to them under suspicion of calling them in and risk getting the abuse yourself. It's sad to say back off but social services don't step in until the child/ren are actually hurt.

Plenty of people scream and swear at their kids and I do not think they are breaking laws by doing so. Unless you are seeing physical abuse....I don't see a legal issue. Its best to call the law and ask questions before you try to do anything else. I do NOT recommend you even trying to speak to the parents because you can get your asss kicked and told to mind your business.
