I heard something by word of mouth yesterday, so I wanted to run it by here.
Someone said something about how Mohammed at one point said that Allah told him that his tribe's 3 current Godesses could be worshiped as sisters to Allah, but that whole idea would conflict with the monotheistic idea that Mohammed was preaching to begin with, so then Mohammed said that this was actually Satan talking to him.
The person went on to say that this kind of thing would disqualify Mohammed as being a true prophet.
Have you heard about this before? It seemed kind of odd to me, but it sparked my interest and I'm going to do some research, but I just wanted to get some other viewpoints first.
Thanks for your help :)

Thank you for this question.
This fiction is the basis of the book the "Satanic Verses" by Rushdie. The so called "retraction" is supposed to have been because Muhammad (saw) said that he realized that the command came from Shaytan (Satan).
There is no historical proof for this at all. There were godesses worshipped before Islam came to the Arabian Peninsula and many believe that it was the worshipers of these who promulgated these false rumors.
And Allah knows best.
Peace and Blessings,
Salim

The basics to study this religion are The Holy Quran and sacred Hadith ( sayings of the Prophet ) from authentic, original sources, not uncommon to find. This 'story' is nowhere there. If you are a sober seeker of knowledge, I sugggest that you become a regular reader of 'The Muslim World Quarterly' a magazine published by Hartford Seminary in Connecticut USA. Google search shall help. Or go to the nearby University's department of Religions. At all times, Islam has been a strictly monotheistic religion. No wavering. No compromise.

Someone and something...is unauthentic in Islam!
Every one knows and even his critics say; Muhammad was against idolism since before he was chosen as prophet. May God save you from Evil and bad dreams. Ameen.

its not true this story is telling by
Islam is abstracted in than human worship god because god create us without need our existence but he create us for ourselves and love us only creatures needs god its not bad because god show us the way to himself (religion)
there was an world before this world that humans choose what would they look like in this world its an knowing choice
then humans come to this world to getting completer and getting and obtain what they aren't obtained in the before world
Mohammad is the most complete human in the world because of this god make him the prophet for his last religion
human must have some borders it worth that he lives in heaven for ever (after his completed (the hell is a part of this completing for uncompleted humans))
Satan was the best angle of god and he driven away from sight of god because he doesn't bowing down in front of human (when god creates human god ordered to other creatures that they must bow down in front of his ever best creature (human) but Satan disobedience from god) Satan is now try to getting completer
every creature do this to reach and obtain god and gain best
this is what Islam said
the think that you heard is contradiction to Islam
Mohammad only wants to help the other human to reach god like his self because of beautifully god

There are meanings in The Torah that tell you how to tell if someone is a Prophet.
If they hear the Devil talking to them, they are not.
Those verses are called the satanic verses
