Islam does not and never did mean 'Peace'
It means 'Submit' to Al'lah in Arabic
The word submit can include brute force, so don't be fooled

I think we all can agree at this juncture that at least some Muslims are given to violence for everything. I find it abhorrent that a religion that claims to be peace loving can commit or allow part of their religious sect to commit such reprehensible acts of violence in response to what was simply words being spoken. The peace loving Muslim must begin to speak out against their violent brothers and reign in the hatred. The Islam nation has lost her credibility and the respect of many who might have once simply stood by and agreed that the violent were just a small group and did not represent the whole religion. When you condone hatred on that level, you may as well take part in it as it amounts to the same thing.

depends upon the personal definition one places on certain words and phrases. what one means by a word may not be the same as another person. when two different people let alone Cultures and Societies use the same term a different meaning may insure. as an example when I was going up in the area I lived a " pig " was a pretty intelligent girl " while in another part of the country this word referring to a girl meant she was unattractive and not to be worthwhile.

To truly submit to God would be to follow His plan and help further the work of God which is to love all people and bring them to Him--not to kill each other!

Islam comes from the root word 'salaam' that means peace.
Islam lit. means submission.
Attaining peace of mind by submitting to God is ISLAM.
