Well it really doesn't matter because rings are usually sized anyway. If it doesn't fit her the jeweler can make either smaller or bigger, so buy her what you love in a size that you think might fit and then after you've proposed take her and the ring to the jeweler. Congratulations! You sound like a wonderful fiance.

If she wears any other rings on her ring finger you can get that. I have never heard of the shoe size/ring size comparison. I wear a 10 shoe and a 4.75 ring size. My friend has a 9 foot, and a 7 ring. I could go on, but that sounds ridiculous!

It's easier to reduce a ring than enlarge it so if unsure go for larger.
I think Argos catalogue has a ring sizer in it, you could make out like you were flicking through and make a big joke out of wnating to know her ring size for an engagement ring, making out like 'wouldnt that be a foolish thing to do.
Alternatively she might want to choose her own- I did- why not present her with a card or leaflet from a good jeweller instead and say 'fancy going there today, thought we could pick you something out?'

Generally you can go by her shoe size. Sounds funny but I did learn this when I worked at Zales. A womans ring size is normally the same size as her shoes size. If she wears a 7 shoe you should be safe to get a 7 ring.

Ask someone with similiar size hands and buy a size up, it doesnt matter if it doesnt fit you just take it and get it altered (easier to make smaller, hence the size bigger) My engagement ring was too big but i was so pleased about the fact he had gone and bought it on his own and proposed i didnt care!! Good luck x

buy a very cheap ring that looks nothing like a engagement ring and give it to her as a present if it doesn't fit tell her you will get it bigger or smaller you want it to be engagement size so she has to put it on her ring finger maybe get her to try it on non engagement hand if its the right size make sure you got got a note of the size before you gave it to her or she won't give it back.
get her into jewellers to resize and ask what size she is then .

Not everyone knows their ring size so ignore comments above i don't even know mine and i'm married !!

have a girlfriend of hers that can know what you want and not spill the beans to her. Ask her as though out of idle curiosity. Or have her go jewelry shopping with the friend and ease ring sizing into the activities.

Buy one in a size P and ask the jeweller if you can swap it for one the right size after you have proposed.
(Rings can also be reduced or enlarged by a good jeweller, if your intended wants the actual on eyou presented)

OR

If she wears one on her right hand third finger 'borrow' it secretly and get one the same size.

My hubby found my size by teasing me at wal-mart,
there was a display of cheap rings and he found one that looked like an engagement ring that fit,
he got down on one knee in the housewears dept, when I said maybe he bought it for like $3.00.... saying he wasn't spending the money if I was going to say no.

6 months later he gave me a real ring (a beautiful one) that fit perfectly.
