When ever I turn off my tv and then turn it back on there is sound but not picture. If it is turned off for several hours it will be fine. What is the problem?

may be a bad connection (cold solder) i have seen a couple of these tvs with bad connections on horz. coils killing high voltage but letting power supply still run if you are not a tech take it to a pro good luck in future provide model #

Probably dry joint on heater supply connections on CRT neck board , most other faults would shut the power supply down so you would not have sound ! To find out ( if you are comfortable with this ) remove or look in thru the back cover and see if you can see the glow from the heater in the neck of the tube !!. If you can see a glow then I have guessed wrong ! but eh , that's all you can expect on answers !!!
