You will get more speed with more memory. If you have less than 512MB, then you should get more. Your antivirus will run much faster as it checks everything that is happening.

Visit http://www.coastmemory.com and look up your system. At this point, you would want to get as much memory as your computer will accept.

You should also use Disk Cleanup. Then run DEFRAG. Both of these are found in the START menu > PROGRAMS > ACCESSORIES > SYSTEM TOOLS section.

Were you able to play need for speed 2 before you installed AVG? Having an anti virus running will considerably slow down a computer especially if you have low resources to start with. This is because your computer is running the anti virus program in the background and this uses up some processing power. Try increasing your memory and turn off some processes before playing the game.

Not really, unless when the AVG doing some scanning.

It could possibly because of the other hardware (requirements)
problems such as memmory in video card (using direct harware or software -- for 3d game, the frame a bit choppy) or there are some application running on behind (check it by pressing ctrl+alt+del and go Task manager -- You can turn some unnecessary application that takes lots of memmory), also do some defragmenting on your hard-drive!

IMHO it's probably your graphics card.

Most pc's have their graphics system built onto the motherboard, You're probably better off getting a seperate grafix card and installing from their.
