thats a simple question with a long answer
create, primitives, box.
then clone the box but don't move it, and reverse the normals on the second one. convert to editable poly, and split the top polygon in two.
detach both top poly's, and effect the pivot points so they move how you want. with the time slider at zero, form the box how you want it. then hit auto key, slide the box to 40 or whatever, and model the box open as you like it. it should go from open to close when you move the slider now.
thats the quick and dirty, but i know theres a lot left unsaid. tutorials are available in the help menu.
