There is no name for it yet. That wil be decided by critics or by a writer who happens upon an apt description. Right now, there is a lot of chaotic and fenzied energy going on in the art world, as there is in the rest of the world. Something for everyone, and anything for anyone. Art is abundant but nothing really stands out as "new." Yes, there is a mixing of traditional and modern elements in singler works but the big next movement is presently undefinable...maybe neo-modernism.

Actually, art movements aren't really completely recognized, named, etc., until long after the fact. Take the gothic style, for example. The architectors didn't say, "Hmm, I think I'll make this cathedral in the gothic style today." They simply new that there was a desire to make tall buildings that looked almost skeletal, with pointed arches and as much glass as possible. It wasn't until much later that the style was coined "gothic."

Years from now, art students will be studying stuff that is going on today, and they will have a name for it. What that name is, we will never know.

Judging by the crap that passes for art in the last 130 years or so, I think it'll be the Bowel Movement. The geatest paintings were done in the Baroque period. Jan Vermeer van Delft was the best of all time. After that, there was deterioration. See what we have now. Salvador Dali said that one drop of Vermeer's divine blue pigment is worth more than all of the paintings that came after him.

what an interesting question! you don't see a lot of questions like this anymore. i can't really tell what the next movement will be but my best guess is that it will have something to do with geometric shapes/drawings and layout.... very futuristic... maybe something like cubism and pop art combined. Good question man! you got me there...

Coming soon: a return to cave drawing. Infrastructure world-wide will collapse. Those few who survive will return to caves and begin worshipping a microwave oven found in the debris.
