Only sentimental value, if that (since you are trying to peddle it here).
Once whiskey's bottled, it stops aging. It's the exposure to the wood in the barrel that "ages" the hooch. Once it's bottled, nothing much can happen except degredation from the failure of the seal (the alcohol may evaporate over time).
Drink it up!

Unlike wine, whiskey does not improve with bottle aging. The value in monetary terms would be whatever the retail price is now.

You would just have to talk to folks....40 yrs old really is'nt old for a bottle. Go to Crown Royal's site. it may be something you want to sit on for a while..one's for sure...it is not going down in value.

To the right person this might fetch a nice price. Wiskey and other liquers, just like wine getbtter with age if kept in the right environment. I would try e-bay if really interested in selling it.

It all depends - how much is a lot of money to you, $100? $500? $1,000? You can't really put a price on sentiment, and that is where the value lies in your particular bottle. Enjoy it with friends.

Yes there may very well be. The best old wines are like 10,000 a bottle. You should find out by searching antiques or a professional antique dealer.

It would be a shame to open the bottle then discover it was worth a fortune. I think it would be worth keeping the bottle in it's original state for years to come - avoid temptation!!
