Of course, there are side effects, harmful ones at that. Don't believe anyone who says otherwise. You just need to weigh the benefits against those side effects and make an educated choice. If you have frizzy hair, you're probably sick and tired of blowing out and using a straightening iron and, hate how it looks naturally. One nice thing is that it will cut down on that work. However, chemically straightening your hair means that it will be "burned." Depending on the severity of the formula you use and how long you keep it on, your hair could become way too straight, limp, dry, even fall. If you have fine hair or little hair to start with, think twice. And you'll need to be conditioning it a lot and regularly. I've done it a couple of times. Like I said, weigh the costs and benefits to you. But one thing for sure, please go to someone, don't do it by yourself. Get a good recommendation. See that the person is not trying to sell a bag of beans. See if they're willing to do a milder version for you for the first time.

Yes there are effects from straightening your hair! It can make it dry and increase split ends.
But if you only use them every now and then it's not too bad I use mine about twice a week and my hair is in good condition!
Basically I use shampoo and conditioner for dry hair, occasionally I use Aussie deep hair treatment which I would definitely recommend. Then once I have washed my hair I spray on Aussie leave in conditioner and then put a serum heat protector on by Redken. Sounds a bit like product overload but it is ok. The products protect the straightener's from damaging your hair as much!
Hope that helps!
