A children's Bible that you can write a short message inside or a nativity scene for Christmas something that will be used for years the child will love it and will go some way towards fulfilling your obligation regarding helping to bring the child up in the christian faith.
No I`m not a religious nutter but a mother who has had two children christened.

As a godmother of 14 - the last christening being last week - i can only suggest something personal from you to her that you can remember and cherish in years to come. The vicar actually gave the children a candle which is to be lit each year on their christening day to remind them of what special occasion occured - and the god parents should attend to share time with them. You could always create a scrap book and fill in something each year along with the candle theme

If she is nearly one, that means she has had one year of life already, which would mean lots of photos. By a really pretty album, and collect lovely photos of her and her family and put it in. You could also get the newspaper of her birth date and put that in there too. These are available online on back order I am sure.
When I was 16 my nana gave me an album of my 1st year, including my 1st b'day cards, it was such a lovely thing, she included a picture of my mum and dad at the same age. It would be something different to give her rather than the usual bracelets, bibles etc.

Good luck and enjoy the christening.

I would agree with those who have suggested a Bible, and for the same reason.
My gift to my godson was £5's worth of Premium Bonds. When he became a father 2 years ago, I considered the same for his daughter, only to discover that the minimum holding these days is £100.
The best gift you can give, though, is time.

what i did when i was asked to be my nephews godmother was, i got his first pair of booties from my sister and i had them dipped in silver and mounted on a silver stand with an engraving of his birth date and the day he got christened, she absolutely loved them, it was something special because they were his first pair that he ever wore...i took them to my local jewellers and they did them within a few days...it was not that expensive either....other than that you could go out and buy a silver spoon with her name on or some silver shoes, go to a good card shop that specialise in silver christening gifts, i am sure you have one near you.... so buy something silver...you could also get a lock of her hair and secure it with a pretty pink bow and put it in a small silver picture frame with her name and details engraved...something personal is the best gift..she will keep it forever and even show her own children....good luck

Since a godmother is suppose to be the one the girl goes to for spiritual and moral support when she feels she can't go to her parents, maybe a "my first bible" would be nice to give her.

I would buy her a gold or silver cross or a St Christopher chain he will keep her safe, something she can keep and wear at the same time
