Does any one know of calcium fortified foods for children? My 16 month old refuses cows milk and formula.?

Hiya. My friends child of the same age also refuses milk and formula. She just ensures he has plenty of cheese, yoghurt or fromage frais. He is in perfect health and can count to 10 - so she must be doing something right! I think she worked out that 2 fromage frais a piece of cheese and some milk on cereal or porridge worked out about the same as a pint of milk.

Sorry - just remembered. Green leafy veg such as spinach and spring greens also have a lot of calcium in them. Mix with cheesy sauce for supper.

try making milk shakes with real fruit, or yogurts, cheese etc. Also a balanced diet with plenty of green leafy veggies like broccoli. I think that some nuts and seeds also have calcium in.

Try boiling soya beans with carrots. Soya beans are rich in calcium. Remember to soak the beans the night before so they go soft quicker. The soup can be taken on its own or mixed with pasta and the carrots for your baby. Don't worry about the soya beans beause all the goodness is in the soup.

Cheese there are many to give your little 1 baby yoghurts and try flavoured milk, make your own with bananas or strawberries

My sister use to use goats milk as my nephew was allergic to milk, and she was told that this had more calcium in it than any other milk products.
