I think you should pay because they are using their energy and abilities to do you a favour. It's ok if a psychic does that for a friend for free but not to strangers. Just think about it, if they did that with you then why not with the next one and so on... They need to eat too, so they've got to earn money. The same way you wouldn't look for a hairdresser that can do your hair for free (unless your friend/family member is a hairdresser, in which case they shouldn't expect you to pay).

There are regular psychic meetings in one the pubs round here, where they advertise with huge signs. Why they need the signs, I do not know. Not sure if they are free though.

I sincerely hope you won't seek advice from anyone who claims to be able to foretell the future. At best, such claims are fraudulent and you will only be wasting your money; at worst, you could find yourself entangled with occult spiritual powers that will deceive and harm you.
This is why the Bible repeatedly warns us against any type of occult practice. The ancient world was filled with all kinds of superstitions and occult practices, but God's people were warned not to let themselves be influenced by them. The Bible says, "Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist, or who consults the dead" (Deuteronomy 18:10-11).
Instead, I urge you to turn to God and seek His will for your future. God loves you; He loves you so much that He sent His only Son into the world to give His life for your salvation. Why not trust your life into His hands? By a simple prayer of faith ask Christ to forgive your past and come into your life today.
Then commit your future into His hands. I can't promise all your problems will suddenly go away—but I do know this: It's far better to face the future with God than without Him. Don't follow the wrong path in life, but follow Christ instead. You'll never regret it.

Why would you want to dabble in that, and anyone could claim they could contact dead people. I doubt any of them would do it for free anyway.
