I would think a pony tail is the long, flowing kind, and a pig tail would be the braided kind, but I have heard many different answers, so I'm just curious what others think and know?

As far as I know, a ponytail is usually at the back of your head, & there's only one, whereas pigtails are two ponytails made on either side of your head. Also a pigtail doesn't have to be braided.

Ive always understood pigtails as being braided and a ponytail as being alot of hair tied back. Hope this helps
