Depends on the thoughts. If they are about hurting yourself, get help. If they are just ugly thoughts, think rainbows and sunshine. I don't know. I like to watch a funny movie, or show.

Ive found myself doing this when bad things happen, and it can go on for months
Ive learnt to stop the thought by doing this:
as soon as they get in my head, I say out loud to myself 'this too will pass'
and every time they pop in I say it, it breaks the cycle of getting into the negative thought and giving it space, but it also reminds me that time will heal
good luck

I used to feel extremely depressed, my mind was full of highly negative thoughts, I even thought about suicide for a great deal of time.

I am a Christian and I felt I was drifting away from God, which is why I was feeling this way. One day, I just prayed hard to God, I asked him to free me from these negative thoughts, it worked. I feel much much more positive now.

If you don't have faith, then, there is no hope for you
