I am looking for a credit line or overdraft facility from any bank or financial institution in Singapore, that does not carry any annual fees. I am generally very conservative, live well within my means, and try not to incur debt. The credit line or overdraft would be a source of emergency funds only; and since I am not likely to use it under normal circumstances, ideally it would have no annual fees for life (not the usual type that has a waiver for only the first couple of years). Is there such a facility?

I did a search:

- Maybank Flash Credit Card
S$10 service charge for Flash Credit Classic Card will be waived with at least 1 transaction every 3 months

- HSBC Secured Visa Card
Annual fee waived

- OCBC Debit Card
Simply charge S$1,800 per year for a full waiver of your annual fee of S$20 based on our Annual Fee Waiver Programme.

I think there are strings attached. Some cards give out points when you charge to it, and these points can be used to pay for the annual fee. They just want you to use the cards. Use it for your normal expenditures, then use the points earned for your annual fee. That I think is the best way.

I think OCBC is the only that doesn't have annual fees for life. But it doesn't pay any interest unlike other credit lines which charges annual fee. Go check it out at www.ocbc.com
