John 19:25-27
25Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
26When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, "Dear woman, here is your son,"
27and to the disciple, "Here is your mother." From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.
(NIV)

This text shows who was standing by the cross. There was no man standing there, only women. Doesnt this prove that Mary Magdalene was the disciple whom Jesus loved? And not John!
Could the "son" be a change from "daughter" to make Jesus seem more divine?

As a christian I find it funny how people get caught up in the story and miss the meaning.

The bible was inspired by god not written by him. Humans made many errors but the meaning was conveyed.

Switch the characters how does it make Jesus's accomplishments less how does it make them more. It does nothing to the meaning of his life.

To me if Jesus was a married man with children and brothers and sisters. It makes him more incredible. Try to live his life and break away from you family. That is a tuff decision.

Because they stood near the cross does that mean that no one else was near? Read the other accounts and it mentions crowds that were standing around, plus many others by name. Besides John uses that term throughout his book to refer to himself. If you are a Christian, why are you trying to rewrite the Bible and base it on fiction?

John 20:1 Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came early to the tomb, while it was still dark, and saw the stone already taken away from the tomb. 2 So she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved,

Dude, what is up with you tonight?
If I had a close friend that was dying, I would be at their side too. Throughout the New Testament, John is referred to as the disciple whom Jesus loved. I believe that John took Jesus' mother because his other brothers didn't believe that he was the Messiah. I don't think it was changed. I agree with the person that asked if you had watched the Da Vince Code. Sounds like the same junk to me.

Why would Jesus call Mary Magdelene, "son" if He meant "daughter"? And to change "son" to "daughter" will do violence to the text! Beleive me, I am all for empowering women and I firmly beleive that women figured significantly in the early church. The natural reading of the passage you just quoted (with its context) is that there were 3 important women disciples at the foot of the cross WITH the apostle John with them. So the Church understood throughout the centuries.

There is a hidden word "along" because Roman soldiers were also there and the disciple. In the eyes of Jesus there is no difference of male or female. Jesus is 100% human and 100% divine . There is no grade like more divine.

No. John didn't mention himself because he was writing the Gospel. Mary of Magdala was simply a follower of Jesus. That she was at the Crucifixion is a sign of her devotion to Christ's teaching and her belief that He was the Messiah. "Son" should in no way be changed to "daughter". Gnostic fairy tales are hardly the best way to interpret the Bible.

John is so humble that he never talk with –me- or - I - in his gospel but referring as to someone else as the disciple who Jesus loved.

could have been changed to make John seem more important, since it was probably Paul who wrote the thing. and Jesus' brother James could have been the person as well, since Paul despised him
