First of all don't listen to ph62198....He really didn't bother to explain the whole story. Yes it's true that mainstream American beers such as Budweiser and MGD are horrible, but there are several different American microbrewed beers (Dogfishhead, Magic Hat, Goose Island) that are very very good. Here's a rough estimate of prices here in Illinois, though prices vary from state to state.
24 pack of MGD or Bud cans=$13.99
12 pack of MGD or Bud bottles=$7.99
6 pack of MGD or Bud bottles=$4.99
30 pack of Busch, Pabst or Miller High Life Cans= $12.99
12 pack of Busch or Old Style cans/bottles=$5.99
Most cheaper American beers (Busch, Old Style, High Life, Pabst)about $2.99
Goose Island 12 pack bottles=$11.99
Samuel Adams 12 pack bottles=$11.99
Dogfishhead 6 pack=$8.99
Leinenkugel 12 pack=$10.99
This is just a rough estimate for you. Good American beers typically run between $6 and $10 a six pack, and $9 to 16 a twelve pack. There are several excellent small breweries that only sell their beer in six pack. Those are typically the most expensive.
