It seems like he might have too much time on his hands if he is reading 14th century dialogs for fun. On the other hand, the point that religious experience cannot be valid if it is coerced seems reasonable. The responses of firebombing churches and shooting nuns only appear to reinforce his argument.

Alternately, whereas the Pope spoke from an over-educated point of view, our man 'W' seems nearly entirely untutored. Somehow I wonder if they two had been combined in utero, then would an ambitious philosophically inclined politically savvy child have emerged? Or would one personality have cannibalized the other?

Yes...The pope is not a good representative of the Christian religion. A religious leader is suppose to try to bring peace not start up trouble....I do agree Bush should have one too. These people have the power to say something and offend people or gain peoples liking....They should be more careful of what they say especially when they have almost the whole world listening!

No muzzles! If the Pope and Bush had muzzles, what would we do for entertainment?

Yes! We should knit them some very nice muzzles. This would go far in creating world peace.

The Pope (and Dubya, too) both have a right to free speech. Unfortunately, theirs ends up on CNN, when the rest of us aren't so fortunate.

Monotheism needed:

The Father, Son and Holy Spirit is like the soul, the body and the works in a single person.

God is one, there is a conjunction of charity and faith.

The Pope is a human being who makes mistakes. When he does make a mistake, as he is a celebrity of sorts, he is chastised. When people are taught to see him as a possible infallible being, such as the Christians see Jesus as he was on earth 2000 years ago sometimes, this contaminates the human spirit for on earth as it is in heaven. We should worship the Only Begotteness in each one of us and its potential to heal us.
