He died in Hawaii around 1988 89. I have never met him. And I don't have any pictures of him or any way to know how to find out how he died. All I know is when and where... Help. Now what do I do?

I would start by going to this free website:
http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/
this is social security death index. it will give you information on him. Then you can get a copy of the death certificate from the state. On that you will find family information, cause of death, where the remains are, etc. Best of luck to you.

If you know his name, you can go to the Social Security Death Index and probably find out when he passed away, they don't however tell the cause...For that, after you find out his social security number, you can contact the state of Hawaii, and it will cost, but not a whole lot, you can get a copy of his death cirtificate..that should list the cause of death. You can also go to the local newspaper in Hawaii on line probably and view his obituary...may lead to other relatives who might give you more information....
