look at many of the answers expressed right here. I am convinced most are from people who really believe they are practicing Christians and yet their idea of what is true are as different as apples and oranges. Some have some pretty bad attitudes, and most do not or have not read their Bibles through even one time.
Here's where I think the problem is. It is as if both letters to Tim. were riped right out of the Bible and tossed. These give the qualifications for leadership and how to choose tham and how to hold them accountable and I am telling you I have been inat least 70 chuches and not one of those practice these which should be the foundation of organization. Preachers who would not meet th e qualifications get in and no way are they going to teach these scriptures and there are not many who even know them.
One other great mistake most likely taught by these unqualified teachers is that Humility in some way resemble timidity. The Biblical definition is very close to the word teachable, and if there is one thing I have noticed about christians as a group it is that they are not teachable, nor do they want to learn.
Sometimes I am ashamed I are one then I realize it is My relationship with God that is important and I cherish that more than anything.

I'll tell you why I shudder: The exclusivity of the religion. Only a select number of people (Christians) get the pass into Heaven. Everyone else is going to "Hell" -- and not for a million years, not for a billion years, but forever. The Jews, the Muslims, the Buddhists, Hinduists, Agnostics, Atheists... all going to Hell. It doesn't matter that there's no more or less evidence in favor of Christianity than any other religion. It doesn't matter if you just cannot humanly accept all the miracles and supernatural stuff in the Bible as being true. It doesn't matter if you're a totally good and awesome person but see no reason to believe in a superior being. None of that matters. If you believe in Jesus, you're going to Heaven; if you don't, you'll burn forever. Case closed, end of story.
I don't mean to come off as aggressive, and I'm not trying to say that you have ever said any of that, but that's what Christianity says. And like a good friend of mine always used to say, "As long as there's a religion that claims to have all the answers in the world, I'll stay away from it."

I'm not saying ALL Christians do this but quite alot in my area, won't take no for an answer and basically shoves it down peoples throats. There is one church here that bribes children into going by giving them candy. Then this church thinks that it is aight to tell the congregation what they could wear (no pants, just skirts and dresses) for the ladies. In AND out of church. A suit and tie for men (also in AND out of church), there's also another one in my area where the pastor was stealing from the collection plate, but some of the parishioners saw nothing wrong with that.
If that wasn't bad enough, there was also another one (besides those two) where the pastor was having sex with his daughter.
So, I don't judge ALL Christians because of this, but it does make me very wary of them.

Many 'christians' have played their part in making Christianity unattractive. When people calls themselves Christians but do not practice what the Bible says, Christianity becomes unattractive. If every Christian made Christ as the model and tried to live as Christ, surely the world would have been a much much better place and many people would have accepted Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

Most people do not want to be told what to do, how to do it, or why.
Most religions have their set guidelines, and procedures and if someone balks at them, right away are offended by the same ones who claim to love.
Unless you do this, or if you do that, seems to be the norm.
I may be christian, but I do not belong to any organized religions, nor would I want to.
The best way for Christians to get the message out is by actions, not just words, or single minded traditions.

I am a Christian. I think our practices have gone all wrong. We have become Christians in name only. We have become like the Sadducee's and the Pharisees who made a mistake of becoming the detractors of the Messiah they were waiting for. Many of us fit in the New Testament description: "They call me God, but their hearts are really far away from me."

Many people find religion a useless crutch. Being an atheist is just as worthy as being a Christian, Muslim, Buddhist etc.
I find preaching somewhat annoying. Whatever your faith, you shouldn't preach it and expect others to follow.

Because if you ask or question anything with logic they get aggressive. They come across as thinking they are better than anybody else. Its what the person is like, and how you treat other people that matters, religious or not.

as a Muslim, I would never consider converting to Christianity (or any any other religion for that matter) because its doctrines don't make sense to us.
Besides, we respect and accept Jesus as the Christ and Messiah.
Peace.

It starts in a Church or Church leader for me...I can't talk for other people though....
Why can't they just read out of the bible and leave all there thoughts and opinion out of it...
I wish I could find a church that read out of the bible, then we sang songs and I came home...
