My child was born in the US, and her passport is expiring in mid 2007. I currently live in Bangalore, India, and would appreciate anyone who can tell how i can go about renewing the US passport from outside the US. Thanks!

You should be getting it done at the consulate in chennai. If your child is above 14, you can get it done by mail, else they require that you & your wife accompany the kid to the consulate. Here is a link to more info http://chennai.usconsulate.gov/passports.html

There's no such thing a 90 day passport. US passport is valid for 5 years for a minor and 10 years for adult. You must be talking about a 90 day visa. US citizen if in another country other than the US go to the nearest US embassy to renew their passport.

go to the US Embassy in Chennai. get it renewed there.
