chicku guniya is not fatal if it is treated at the right time. Its only a mild form of malaria. Cases of it been fatal has noot been reported where medicines for normal fever or pain has started. Sympotms are pain in all the joints and fever. Tests are very easy can chiku guniya can easily be identified by doctors. From the symtoms u hav told looks like ur mother is fine but there has been cases in which virus has lain dormant and only attackin when we get some other disease.
Best thing u can do is to see a doc. and also it is caused not by night mosquito but by mosquitos in day. so take care durin the day also.

Chikungnya. Chikungunya is generally not fatal.
Chikungunya virus occurs in the East, Central and South Africa and in India and south-east Asia. It is the cause of an acute dengue-like pyrexia of sudden onset, associated with intense joint and muscle pains and a rash. In African epidemics case fatality was minimal but the virus has since been found in Thailand associated with a severe haemorrhagic fever, in which the dengue viruses also were involved and also in India. The name of the virus derives from an African language word meaning 'the thing causing bending up', from the contorted position of patients induced by joint pains.
How is chikungunya virus infection treated?
No vaccine or specific antiviral treatment for chikungunya fever is available. Treatment is symptomatic--rest, fluids, and ibuprofen, naproxen, acetaminophen, or paracetamol may relieve symptoms of fever and aching. Aspirin should be avoided
Infected persons should be protected from further mosquito exposure (staying indoors and/or under a mosquito net during the first few days of illness) so that they can't contribute to the transmission cycle.
Please see the webpages for more details on Chikungunya.

No its not fatal, if treated early on. Homeopathy is offering the best results so far in both preventive and curative medicine.
I'm not sure your mom has contracted the disease, going by your description. This disease definitely causes fever and attacks the joints. It could also hit the liver, so digestion becomes problematic causing vomiting sometimes. Patients are refrained frome eating anything spicy or heavy. It may not be called contagious, but because of widespread mosquito breeding, it tends to attack within families or household dwellings where more number of people live.
As a preventive measure, please recommend your mom to go for homeopathy

Chikungunya virus is responsible for extensive Aedes aegypti-transmitted urban disease in cities in Africa and major epidemics in Asia. The crippling arthralgia and frequent arthritis that accompany the fever and other systemic symptoms are clinically distinct.
During the acute disease, most patients will have headache, but it is not usually severe. Photophobia and retro orbital pain also occur but not severe. Conjunctival injection is present in some cases. Some patients will complain of sore throat and have pharyngitis on examination.
Supportive care with rest is indicated during the acute joint symptoms. Movement and mild exercise tend to improve stiffness and morning arthralgia, but heavy exercise may exacerbate rheumatic symptoms. In unresolved arthritis refractory to aspirin and nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs, chloroquine phosphate (250 mg/day) has given promising results.

chicken gunya starts with high fever, body pain and vomitting. The joint pain is unbearable and one has to go through it long after the fever is gone. Some homeopathic prevention is
available. If not treated properly at an early stage, it may become
fatal.
