I would join up for a course. once you do you are "hooked" start of with the clait.

I would also try and learn networking this will involve the making of a computer and how it works. If it happens to go wrong you will have some idea on how to fix it too.

If you have time at home, your computer also has a help button which features the index. click on any item it helps to explain more about the feature you are enquiring about.

The library also has excellent books which you could research to see which will be most suitable for your needs before you go out and buy a book.
GOOD LUCK!!

yes do some courses if nothing else you might make new friends also its easier to ask a professional tutor than to look it up in a book - the for dummies line of books that have been mentioned are good and are worth having as a reference but if you take a course then you have a person that you can access to help solve your mistakes

The books on the market now are great, they are easy to understand and also show illustrations. Start off with a book first and if that doesn't work, then put yourself on a course. Good luck

I recommend a course, Text books are so easily "put downable and forgettable!". At least with a course you get to meet others in the same boat. I recommned the CLAIT courses, you could be an expert in a year!

Books are OK but suggest you ask your local primary school what courses they do
OR pay your local paper boy/girl to give you some tuition. Kids are magic at IT (pity they can't read or write so perhaps you could pay them back by giving them reading lessons

Windows for dummies is always good to help people who are not very good at computers. Or just muck around on it untill you work out what to do.

You cant be that ''rubbish with computers'', you managed to sign on here and pose this question... that's all you need really....
all you need to do, is to download ad aware-se from their site, and run it once a week. (easy to use) then your PC will be fine...x
