My suggestion would be to run an ad in a local "free" ad paper (like nickel-ads, or the south coast shopper) saying you're having tryouts for donut bakers. Have interested parties bring you samples of their work and let your customers decide. Best baker wins (and your customers win by having a say in what you offer in the restaurant).

And if you're customers don't like the samples they wouldn't buy the donuts. You find out the interest in the product before you start selling it.

Not sure where u r at in OR. But when I was in Culinary school every so often people in your situation would visit or contact the school with job offers. It would work out well for both parties because on the job hours are needed to satisfy the scholastic requirements and the restaurant gets a eager, cheap cook.. One of the more popular courses is the pastry class so donuts are a breeze..... Good luck........
