You have to have some modesty! I think that is very tacky. We didn't even show my legs during the removal of the garter. My mother in law turned her head! she wouldn't even look! You have to show some respect for your elders.

It's to do with the garter as everyone has already said, it was tradition for the garter to be thrown to the single men, in the same way the bride throws her bouquet to the single girls. It's not something I would be happy doing, I don't like my legs at the best of times and am not gonna get them out on display at my wedding lol

Not all brides do....it goes back to the tradition of wearing a garter.

No, they dont all do that!!! I think it's supposed to be a fun picture for them to remember. Ive been to several weddings and
this garter thing is rare to show it off to all the guests. It's meant for the spouse only I think.
Never done it myself.

It is from the tradition of wearing garters. Not all brides do it... I am one that didn't even wear a garter (and my husband agreed with me).
