there is this weird guy who hangs around my house waiting for an opportunity to scare me. He just does it subtly, like suddenly being there when I open the door and quietly saying Boo! It never fails to make me jump and I usually utter some non-sensical reply which sends him away laughing hysterically. I think he's normal, he has a nice girlfriend and a good job but just seems to get a charge out of scaring me. Do you think he's dangerous or just eccentric?

I told his girlfriend and she told him to stop. She says he does it to her all the time. I guess I was just reading too much into it as she said he thinks of me as a mother figure and his mom always got a kick out of it and he just thought it might cheer me up. I've been kind of depressed lately. So thanks everyone for being concerned...that cheered me up for sure.

He probably enjoys scaring you, since you respond in an obvious way, but if this happens often and is unwanted, it is harassment. I agree with the other comments on informing his girlfriend of his behaviour, as well as your own friends and family. I would also tell him directly, if you have not already, that because he is making you feel threatened (scared) that it is harassment and you will notify the police if he keeps it up.
No doubt he will mock or try to degrade you when he hears such a thing (along the lines of "lighten up" or "it's just a joke") but it is harassment (I can't say it enought) and you have the RIGHT to feel safe, no matter where it is. If this is happening while you are on the property of your house, not only is he harassing you, he is tresspassing too.
Harassment and tresspassing? It might seem like a non-issue now, but things can escalate very quickly and unpredictably. Until you have reason to believe otherwise, yes he is dangerous.
If he keeps it up, get some pepperspray and use it. You will be defending yourself under the law if he makes you feel threatened, especially if you have given him warning.

I think he is probably just an *** that thinks he is the funniest guy in North America.
I don't know what your set up is. Is this an apartment/condo where he also lives there? Or is he coming onto your private property and doing this crap?
If the later I would pretty strongly suggest he move on and stay moving. If the contact with him is unavoidable try not to react--or say something neutral like "Thanks alot dumb ***."
Although my sense is he is just a jerk--if this became a persistent thing and my suggestions did not work to dissuade I would take some action. If an apartment/condo report him to managment. If it is a private home--and he was trespassing I would report him to the police. Sometimes you just can't be too careful with this type of thing.

He sounds like he is stalking you for whatever reason...just to 'scare' you? wow..don't matter if he has a job or girl...he is a sick person to make time to come there and harass you ...no he is not eccentric...I would call the police and report his behavior or the stalking line before his antics get a little more serious...otherwise you're going to be always looking over your shoulder for him not good

It relies upon on the guy or maybe the female in question! the two must be threatening in direction of others (the recent boy/female pal), or threaten harm to their selves too. the threat of 'loosing somebody', the 'loss of their territory / possession' may well be like having somebody come and thieve something from interior your place. the threat of a loss of a female pal with the aid of her 'walking away' may well be 'a loss of administration', the place the boy / guy or female, has little or no administration of their existence or what happens around it. that's a extremely infantile piece of behaviour. Sash.

He's definetely some one I would be cautious of. Talk to his girl friend and tell her what he does. Just be prepared to protect yourself in case he wigs out. Get a can of pepper spray and give him a squirt next time he scares you, if he asks why you sprayed him, tell him - Because you scared me, you freak!!!
