I think that's up to interpretation. Longfellow is one of the greatest poets (and men!) to have ever lived. Here is what *I* think he means; ymmv.
Other people see what we have already done, and judge us by our past accomplishments. They measure us by the good and bad that they can see.
We measure ourselves not by our past failures or successes, but by what we know we can accomplish.
The dreamer who is never finishing anything is seen by others as lazy and undisciplined; he sees himself as a visionary.
Does that make sense?

Others judge us by what we have already done-Obviously, these others are human beings only & not God . They cant see whats going on in our mind/heart . Their opinion is based on our performance or deeds . If we have done good they will praise us & vice versa .
We judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing- A million slips between the cup and the lip . At times, we are not able to accomplish certain things for many factors which doesn't necessary means that we couldn't have done it under any circumstance . We make decisions keeping in mind our potential . Others see the talents already harnessed .
Don't we do the same with others .

We judge ourselves by what we feel we could and should have done, remember the story in the bible where Jesus said look this woman gave all she had to the rich people, I find in to days world very few people that would do that. Other judge us by what we have already done, not what we're thinking of doing. Kind of self explanatory. Hope this helps

We judge ourselves by what we feel we should be able to do (more) or (better) in other words we think we could have done more or did it better. While other judge us by what we have already accomplished. I hope you can understand this because there is no easier way of putting it........Flo

It means we push ourselves to achieve our goals because we know we can do it. Other people judge us on actions already done and not what we have worked hard to achieve, which hasn't been achieved yet. Kinda, does that make sense?

What I think it means is. That we judge yourself by what we think we can do. What we think we will amount to. But others look at us by what we have already done or accomplished in life. Not what we will do or accomplish.
I hope I helped some.

break this down and consider it phrase by phrase...we judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing....
others judge us by what we have already done-well, they don't know how we feel and that's all they can go by.

A person knows himself/herself and what they can or cant do.
Someone who hasnt walked in your shoes can only judge from what they know of you which is usually superficial.
