We had our wedding at a small venue that included the food and cake in the rental fee. They also did the ushering and the coordination during the wedding day. They gave us referrals for photographers and DJ's and it was really easy to pull together. It took us less than 7 weeks to plan the whole thing. It was expensive, but much less than I expected.

Good luck with your wedding!

Get 20 white helium filled balloons, and 20 silver. Use these to form an arch. Use the cheapest white flowers you can find, and silver ribbon.

Bridesmaids could dress in silver, and best man and ushers could wear silver ties and cumberbunds.

For your boquet's and your bridesmaids, consider silk flowers.

When they are new they look real, and few are looking at your flowers. And you can save and preserve these for your daughter or daughter in law.

Most good craft stores let you assemble what you like and need fairly easily.

For the reception, ......know an open space? like a park? Something pretty but......cheap? Check state parks. Get a tent if you have more than twenty guests.

Music, know any musicians? DJ's are an option, and not that expensive. But you will need a dance floor, check with tent rental co.

Photographer. This may be the most important choice you make. Look around. If you know a photographer who's work you like.....talk to them first. Get a price.

Be honest about what you can afford (right now) let them own the images for a time. You can order as you can afford.

Honeymoon, if you already live together, go home. Leave tomorrow for some nifty get away place.

The last thing a wedding needs is to be followed by air travel. Get some sleep, rest up, honeymoons are exhausting. But fun.

Pace yourself.

Most of all make sure wedding preparations are Fun for both of you. Share this.

Make it fun.

Shun the stress

We had our wedding in our back yard. We bought blank cards and printed the invitations on the computer printer using the word processor software. We bought simple gold band wedding rings at Sears. They had to be special ordered and it took about a month for them to come in, so give youself plenty of time. I bought my dress at a thrift shop for $18.00, but it cost me $265.00 to have it altered to fit. A talented family member did my makeup. Our clothing was casual/chic. Not too expensive. The guests dress was casual. We rented tables, chairs and table linens and had the rental place delivere them the day before the wedding and pick them up the day after. Very much worth it. Trust me, you don't want to be running around all over town trying to borrow tables and chairs from family members and friends the day before the wedding. We had the rehearsal the day before and BBQ'd in the back yard for the rehearsal dinner. We had the bakery deliver the cakes 1/2 hour before the ceremony. We did not have a traditional wedding cake, but good cakes that everyone likes. We also hired a caterer to fix the entree, but we made the salad and cheese and fruit plates. The caterer provided a server and she cleaned up everything before she left. No alcoholic beverages, only bottled spritzers and water and fruit juices in half barrels of ice, no glasses. You can save a lot of money if you don't serve alcohol. We used paper plates and napkins and plastic "silverware" which were discarded after the reception meal. The wedding was followed by the reception and we kept everything in the back yard. We hired a jazz quartet of local musicians. There were 50 quests. The entire event cost us $3000.00. It was a lot of work but worth it. Give yourself a couple of months to plan and execute. Get your invitations out early so people can make plans. Have fun with it and relax!!! It should be a happy time. Decide how many people you can afford to invite and stick to it!!! (we didn't - 30 people turned into 50). Family and friends are always eager to help and don't hesitate to accept their offers of help! Good luck and congratulations!

We just got married last saturday and It was ten times better then I ever imagined it would be. We made our invitations on the computer. We got married in our back yard. The justice of the peace came right to our house. We rented a tent, tables and chairs. We hung little white lights around the whole tent for when it got dark. We hired someone to do a pig roast for us. He cooked the pig at his house and had everything set out buffet style under the tent. He brought macaroni and potatoe salad , rolls and all the trimmings. We made up fruit trays, vegetable trays, pepperoni, ring bologna and cheese trays. Had a few dessert trays. We had a beautiful three teir wedding cake. We used our cd player for music. Had a few bottles of the basic alcohol, half keg of beer and soda. I got all of our decorations at orientaltrading.com. Each table had a gerber daisey potted centerpiece. We put disposable wedding cameras on each table for everyone to take pictures of our day. My brother in law takes great pictures so he also took our wedding photos. We spent and extra 200.00 because we had some children there and bought a moon bounce for them from toysrus. That was a big hit. As a party favor I got everyone a glass votive with a candle in it with our names and wedding date on it. Half of the people lit them up under the tent when it got dark along with our lights and it was just beautiful. My bouquet I got from walmart. It was fake but it was beautiful. Our day was great and I will never forget it. As your will be to. Congratulations and have fun with your planning.

check out some good website liike theknot.com or ezweddingplanner.com and they can give you an outline of what you need to do. In order to save some $$ just get creative perhaps no dinner/potluck dinner , silk flowers instead of real, make your own wedding cake im not sure where you are located but if you have a Michaels craft store they carry a huge selection of make your own wedding stuff supplies including everything to make your own cake, decorations, invitations etc.
