Well, not that anyone would agree, but I had six kittens that had fleas and first I gave them all a flea bath (with mild flea soap)--be sure to do their "underarms" where the fleas hide. Then I left the kittens in the bathroom where there was no carpet. (Be sure to give the kittens mineral oil or hairball remedy before the bath so they don't get hairballs). Then, I went and sprayed my house with flea spray specifically for carpet and furniture. Then I ran the vaccum and emptied the bag right after. Then I sprayed again. After the kittens were dry, I sprayed them with a flea spray for animals. You can also get them flea collars which will keep the fleas away, too. Be sure to spray the carpet and upholestry each time before you vaccum and especially where they sleep. After the first time of doing this, I had no problem with fleas for quite a while. You can also hire a company to treat your house for fleas but you still have to get them off the animals. Good luck.

You can try flea bombs. Get them at hardware stores. Follow label directions to the letter. Especially the part about "re-treatment". Flea eggs are indistructable and you are getting new babies hatching every few days or so, so you have to treat at least twice, a week apart, or whatever it says in the directions.
You have to treat your yard as well. You can track fleas in like mud on clothes and fur. Yep, you guessed it, a few times to get the babies.
You also have to wash all your pet bedding. That's where fleas love to hide.
I've found vacuuming is the best method, safest too. You have to vacuum everything, everywhere, every other day for 2 weeks. Under all the furniture, in all the furniture, beds (people and pet), and don't forget hard floors. Fleas love base boards as home away from home, so you gotta get 'em.
Treat the kittens too. Advantage or Frontline work the best. Collars are pointless and dangerous for babies.
Good Luck

Fleas are hard to get rid of.
Not only do you have to treat your kittens with a medicated flea solution, but you need to treat the exterior and interior of your home. When I had cats, I treated them with a foam based solution that was likely Hartz. Raid Carpet Spray for Fleas is good for the interior and your common flea and tick granules can be used for the exterior. All can be purchased at Wal-Mart or similar store.

With the cats I would get flea spray and then spray the house at the same time. Also be sure to wash or spray all sheets and towels at the same time. Fleas like to hide in fabric. If you miss any, the problem wont go away.

advantage, advantix or revolution for CATS (do not use dog flea remedies on cats ever).
Any of those 3 products kill all stages of fleas...fast (within 12 hours). They last for 30 days.
Flea collars only repel fleas on the head and neck area.
Flea baths are rough on cats (drys out the skin and fur) and can make them ill.
flea powders can get into everyones eyes and lungs.
sprays scare the beejeevers out of a cat (hissing sound).
The topicals I mentioned above work best and are safest.

I have cats too - so I know how you feel. You need to get flea bombs (that you activate while you and the kitties leave the house for a few hours). Depending on the size of your house, you may need several bombs. You also need to medicate your kitties (the best product is Revolution for Cats). Alternative to the flea bombs is to get professtional pest removers.

Frontline Spot-on applied to the cats, you get it from the vet. Vaccuum (hoover) any carpets and furniture. The vet may know of a powder you can put down on the carpet and then vaccuum up. Best if your vaccuum has a HEPA filter. And throw the bag away afterward!! if yours still has a bag!
Wash all your bed linen and any pillows, cushions etc. you can in HOT water, as you would for lice.

the best way is go to ur vet and get wat they giv u. most store products are no good. i had a cat that got fleas, and we did wat the vet told us with the stuff he gave us and they went away, but before that we tried everything the stores had and nuth'n worked, o and anmals dont just get fleas, so they must go outside, and they got the fleas from the grass. if u get rid of the fleas in the house but still let ur cats out, they will get them again, just so u kno, and good luk with getting rid of the problem
