Because your body would still create the wall of nutrients and blood along the lining of the uterus that the egg is supposed to embed itself in. Therefore, as normal, when there is no fertilization, the body sheds what is on the lining of your uterus - hence having your period.

The lining of the Uterus builds up over the month. If there is no egg fertilised or in the case of a tubal ligation no egg at all, the lining will shed. So you still get a period. This will continue till you go through Menopause and it is the only time it will stop.

Usually, hormone levels and a woman's menstrual cycle are not noticeably changed after tubal ligation.Ovaries continue to release eggs, but they stop in the tubes and are reabsorbed by the body. Ligation has not direct effect on the production of hormones in a woman's body so she continues to mensturate.

The eggs still continue to drop, off a cliff so to speak, as long as you have your ovaries. While you still have hormones working....its the hormones with the egg cycle that produces the lining to fill and menstruate.

Your eggs do still drop, just not into your uterus. Your uterus still has to shed it's lining. A tubal isn't a hyseterectomy.
