Antisocial means that you do not live by the rules of society. It's usually associated with criminals. What you are talking about is different. People with social phobia generally want to be around people but can't because they are so anxious. There are personality types for people who just don't like to be around people period and feel no desire to be.

It depends on what you mean by being antisocial. If you all of a sudden don't want to go out and be around people and you are stressed at the thought of going out and you don't want to be around people at all then you may be developing a social phobia. However, maybe you just don't want to be around others because you are depressed. The problem is that if you continue to stay at home you will only get worse and you still could eventually develop a social phobia. If you are feeling antisocial and especially if this is something new for you, get to a doctor and get some help before this pattern becomes disabling.

social anxiet and antisocial personality disorder are two totally different things. people with antisocial personality disorder repeatedly commit acts that go against social norms with little or no remorse (like those people who are in and out of jail constantly.) This isnt the only symptom, I would suggest typing in antisocial personality disorder and readin the various sites that list the symptoms. I just gave you that one symptom as an example. Antisocial doesn't mean social phobia. It could stem from deep rooted feelings of inadequacy or distrust, and the person may display it in negative ways a may not even be aware of it, but they wont display it in terms of phobia or anxiety.

Being antisocial just means you would rather be by yourself or with close friends and/or close family. But can go out in public if need be just prefer to stay home.

Having a social phobia of some kind means that you can't be with other people because you panic and freak out. If you have a social phobia you need to see a doc and find some kind of therapy or medication that helps.
