I herd somewere that subwoofers shouldnt be pushed hard for like the first 10-20 hours thier lives.
that they need to be broken in first.
than after that they'll be fine to bump.

Is this true????

. i do sound compotition for a living. yes if u really buy the high end ones because they are stiff. if u take them and move them with ur fingers they will hardly move so they need to be broken in for about 4 weeks. what u want to do is turn the levels down all the way then turn them up a little bit from zero. ur filter doesn't matter. at the end of each week turn it up little by little bit or u will blow them out if u bump them right away. trust me i've seen it happen.

no. as long as a shop like best buy or circuit city or someone put it in your fine.

no. if you or a friend installed them and you know that you got the right wattage for the subs and so you can't blow it. if you are not sure you have to turn the amp all the way down and slow turn it up when it is bumping to get the right level.

it is not a engine where you are putting fuel in it. that is why you do it with engines. it is only electricty.

yes you do need to break them in, your sub will last longer than if you just start slaming them, the surround needs to get used to the flexing back and forth before it just throws itself into full swing, kinda like strecthing before playing a sport. If you break it in slowly the strech will make the surrond flex easier, if you just bumb the hell out of it you might cause it to "tear" more so than strecth, this also depends a lot on the material that the surround is made of

nope, just a myth. subs do not need to be broken in. do what they are made to do. just like guy above said, if you got the right stuff going to them they are good. bang away.
