I mean, young-earth creationism is so insane, there just has to be some Christians out there who understand that science does not in any way countermand Christianity, it's just ignorant preachers!

Well, when the dating system says that new volcanic earth is thousands of years old then it is just unreliable.

Science changes the dates to fit their theories!

It could be either, but don't put so much faith in what is called science. Most is just statistics!!!!!

Wait just a minute. I am a Christian and I believe in creationism, but I never claimed that the earth was young. I don't know how old it is. I was not there when it was formed. All I know is God did it. No where in the Bible does it claim how long one day was. When God was creating the earth, it (meaning time) had not been established. It could be older than we all think. Only God knows exactly how old the Earth is. And just for the record... who cares? I have more stuff to worry about.

I can accept that! I'm a Bible believer and when we read the account of creation particularly where the Bible states ".......and the earth was without form, and void." note here the word "was" I understand that in the original Hebrew the word "was" actually reads "became" so it suggests that the earth was at one time as we know it today and the Lord "renewed" it so with the account of creation we don't know how long it was from the time when the Lord first created it until the time he renewed it. This could account for how the earth is several billion years old and dinosaurs etc.

The blob of what the earth became may have been a blob for billions of years but if you read the bible you will see that the world was without form and God hovered over the deep and spoke life into it. It also doesn't say the earth may have remade, however I believe what the bible says...period.....I don't know how He did it...can't explain it.....Don't know if someone put some old bones from another planet here...don't really care....I just love God and don't begin to believe I have all the answers...and if you were smart you would realize just how insignificant you are compared to GOD.

I do. I also know the Bible says all was created in 6 days. However...the bible does not say how log a day was at the time of the creation. Remember, not until "day 4" was there the ability to track a "day"...so how long would day 1, 2 and 3 be?

First day: Light is created. ("Let there be light.") This light is not the sun or stars, as these are created later. It is described by some as a primordial light. The light is divided from the darkness, and called good by God. The statement in verse 8 that there was evening and there was morning is often cited as the reason that the Jewish day starts at sunset.

Second day: The firmament of Heaven is created. The waters above it is separated from the waters below.

Third day: Land is created, separated from the waters, and named. The water is also named. Grass, herbs and fruit-bearing trees are created.

Fourth day: Lights are made in the firmament of Heaven, to appear regularly, aiding time-keeping. Two particularly large lights are made, the lesser one the Moon and the greater one the Sun.

Fifth day: Air and sea creatures are created, including "great sea-monsters". They are commanded to be fruitful and multiply.

Sixth day: Land animals are created, and God calls them good. Man and woman are created in God's image. They are told to "be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it." Humans and animals are given plants to eat. The totality of creation is described by God as "very good".

Do some simple math sista... dont just assume a person is ignorant because they believe something different. Take something like the earths population.

if you want to look at some really interesting/boring info on world population then check it out... in the very real chance that you dont, stop acting so sure of yourself unless you can explain away all these questions....

Well I believe in a 4+ bil Y earth
BUT!

Is it so hard to believe that the earth could have been created in as little as 6 24 hour days?

I have seen reports on astral objects, some kind of sun or star, that we see that is to far away for its light to have reached us, at the standard speed of light!

If you believe in the Big Bang, an object about the size of a softball, exploded!
now if is started at where our sun is, the size of the explosion would have reached to orbit of earth in less that 1/100 of a second!

It takes light 8 minutes to reach us from the sun!

To some things, Time, Distance, have no meaning!

Hello!! :o) As a Christian I have no problem whatsoever with the idea that the world could be 4 billion years old. [OR even older] And I'm certainly not anti-science. I'm just anti-anything that attempts to dismiss God's rightful place in all of this. Craig!! :o)

And your point is.....? We do not know how long Adam and Eve were living in the garden before they ate the fruit. They could have been there for a very long time. Before they ate of the fruit there was no age process for them, it was only after they ate that the DAY started. So 6,000 years ago Adam and Eve ate of the fruit. And besides, doesn't anyone but God know just how old this earth really is. Scientist have no real proof how old the earth is.....They mostly speculate and assume.

i am not a christian, but i believe the earth is in the billions of years two. the bible on more than one occasion states one time unit but means another. often when it says weeks, it means years. who knows what the correct interpretation of day is?

EDIT

person above me, your links are ridiculous. as a second year student in physical anthropology and human evolution, even i can see the flaws and false assumptions their points are based on. you would think creation "scientists" would not misunderstand science so profoundly.
