I feel as though middle eastern countries have a better fashion sense than as we do as americans. Women over their don't expose what should be kept for the better room. I believe sex is more sacred over in middle easter counties because of the way they dress. And maybe we would be far more advanced than we are here in america if we dressed like them too, sex wouldn't always be on our minds. This isn't to say men aren't to blame for sex crimes against women, they need to excercise restraint, and common sense, to know to have sex with women who want to have it with them, not to force anyone to have it with them.

Theoretically, sure. But does it really work? Do you know about rape statistics in Middle Eastern countries as compared to Wesern countries? And are you certain that repression doesn't come into play somewhere?
You also might want to find out a little something about how a proper middle eastern married couple actually has sex before you say that's what you want. I get the feeling you don't really know.

you answered your own question.

Is there really a lack of sexual crimes in the general area of the middle east? Seriously. think about that and do a little research. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that just because you hide away under a sheet, that there is no body.

Restraint, common sense, and discipline are things all people need to work on the world over. Will a lack of tanlines and skin help anyone facing these age old delimmas?

Personally I can't see how anyone functions in a burka. I would not be able to do my job if I was forced to wear a large billowing sheet from head to toe. (climbing 80 feet in the air and hanging on a ladder to focus a light, and construction machinery rather have a code aginst wearing things that will get in the way of such activities) I am a union stagehand, stage manager and journeyman electrician. If I had to deal with an electrical fire you can bet your !ss that burka is coming off the moment it catches fire. That's my job and it's not changing. It took me forever to get people to realize I as a woman could do these things and I'm not throwing my skills away without a fight.

This is so ridiculous.

First of all... the person that is committing the sexual assault on a woman is to blame and him alone. I don't care if the woman is wearing a tent or a string bikini. If a woman says NO.. that's it - end of discussion.

Aside from that - rape is a crime of control and is generally nothing to do with sex.

The middle east has sexual assaults as well, I would imagine more then we have. Plus some of those countries are cutting women's clits off. They are not the ones we should be trying to image ourselves after. Sex is not more sacred there, woman are treated horribly. Woman are possessions, not equals. Its not a sacred act. You need to do some research and really think about what you are saying.

Irrespective of how a woman dresses, a man has no excuse to force unwanted sex on a female.

That said, there is an old saying: don't put the merchandise in the window if it ain't for sale. It's like I told my sister when she hit jr high school, "if you dress like a street walker, then they're going to treat you like one."

We all like to get noticed, but flaunting your body, cash, status, etc. is likely to provoke trouble.

I don't think that the extreme of Middle Eastern burka (sp?) is the answer, but a little common sense can go a long way.

no, there would probably be more, sincewomen in the middle east are generally punished for being assaulted. In mostmuslim countries, there have to be 2 witnesses to back up a woman's story of rape, and then, even if the guy isfound guilty, he generally justhas topay herather some money, and she has to marry him. OR, if he isfound innocent, the woman can be stoned to death as a whore, or is killed by her family because she shamed them. Nope. rape occurs less in north America than anywhere else.

by the way, rape has nothing to do with sex. it is totally an issue of control and degradation.

Are you kidding?? Do you know ANYTHING about sex crimes in the middle east??

They have just as large a problem (if not larger) than we have here. Women are discouraged from speaking up and pressing charges, as they could be killed for doing so. And in some countries, rape isn't illegal if you marry the woman later!

I would say that it is agood idea for women and men to wear clothes that are not so revealing. That is not to say that sex crimes will never happen, it just means that people won't be reminded of it every second of the day.

I also think it shows women have a bit more respect for themselves, and in turn men will have more respect for them too.

No I dont think so.

Women should dress modestly but that doesnt mean that a woman who dressess showing a lot of skin means she is asking for 'it'.

Each one should use their common sense in dressing (where to wear what) and a woman should not be judged by what she wears.

I don't think cloth play as important role in this sense. It's the people's mind. If men can hold their need and release it with the ones who are willing to do it with them. Then everything would be fine. I think people have to be able to control themselves. Not that they are able to control and do not have any feelings. They know what they feel and how to react or handle their need.
