Go to China, especially if you go to the Southern Provinces you're bound to find a bargain. If you're travelling from Hong Kong, take the train on the KCR Line to Lo Wu. Once you're there, you're basically in China. Once you come out of the station take a left & you'll be infront of a railway station. Take the railway to the rest of the Provinces of China and get ur electronics from any shop there. But don't forget that all prices are negotiatble in China, so get blagging.

Hi Phil! What is your preference? A laptop that runs Windows or Mac? I bought my laptop in Hong Kong last May, directly from the only licensed distributor (not an authorized reseller) in HK. I got it at a price equal to that of US, and no sales tax whatsoever. I even got a freebie, a muti-card reader. When you do decide, email me. I can help you.

I think the best place is Malaysia because not only cheaper but unlike China, you have the chance to choose laptops from different countries.

It isn't the actual laptop that is important, it is the ability to sort out problems you may have with it. So, I suggest, you buy your laptop from where you can easily get help to sort out possible problems.

i would say the philippines, my thinkpad r50e cost me 430 quid in january, and at the same time in uk it was 730 quid, and it's still more expensive, even now. just make sure you get genuine software if you're not living in asia.

Don't forget to declare it to Customs. You will owe duty & VAT on it unless you smuggle it in...are you willing to take that risk? I wouldn't advise it.
