I would like to know why no one gives their countries crap for not taking their share of the worlds poor, but the US is supposed to take them all in.

I agree with brainooze. UK has open door policy. Hopefully this will be the downfall of Blair and his creepy cronies. As for the French, their policy is Hold them near the Ports, let em escape and go to England.

Aussies rule as far as their policy on immigration.

Armer Kerl, how you think the USA is the only country in the world with immigration problems. My poor country has a population of 10 million people, but has received 700.000 Chileans 1,500,000 Colombians, and thousands from other countries most of them are illegals but they can enter and leave the country as often as they want. There is NO ONE person in prison due to immigration violations. Please compare with Mexico.
If the only thing you know is good, it does not mean it's the best of the world.

Canada being not a strong country takes a lot of immigrants, refugees, etc from around the world...which makes its burden heavy. And whats worse is that most of those who grew and being educated there go to the US or return to their home nations. I think the US situation is better.

I believe some of you have complained about Canada's lax immigration laws, as you call them, so we must be crawling with immigrants!

I don't think you are aware of how many immigrants go to all these countries. They all have immigration policies, which you can probably find out about if you did a quick search. Oh, and who said America has to take them all? Another silly assumption on your part.

The whole image of the US is, come here, work hard, and all of your dreams will come true. Ever heard of a little idea called the "American Dream"? It's on the friggin' Statue of Liberty:

" Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-lost to me."

What other country has the balls to have a motto like that on their most visible landmark to at least half of its immigrants???

I think Australia has a wonderful immigration policy and I think the US could learn a lesson from it.
I would also move to OZ if I could ;)
