I absolutely love decorating my home and helping my friends with theirs!. I am 48 and never even knew I had a "flair" until the last 4 or 5 years when I divorced, bought a new house and started from scratch.I love to rearrrange furniture, chose artwork, paint, and accessorize. I could spend days in various stores looking for just the right piece, even if it's just a small thing for a shelf or bath. Details matter to me alot! I love color and work hard to make my house reflect my personality. I don't like things to "match" exactly because to me that is boring. In college I majored in English and never even took an art course but recently (because my son is such a good artist) I have started painting and drawing with him, just for fun. Last week I pencil sketched a picture of a window sill with 5 of 6 different sized vases and flowers. As a joke I hung it on my fridge and everyone who has seen it is amazed. They can't believe I drew it. I honestly thought just about everyone could draw like that but my friends assured me that it isn't true. So, I guess I do have a natural inclination (and it's showing in my 12 year old son who is artistically gifted). What a cool surprise at my age to discover an untapped talent!

Yes!!! Everyone that see's my house tells me I need to be doing that for a living. But the nearest college to my home that offers a degree in interior design is 150 miles away in the next state. All my firends say when they finally own their own homes they want me to do the decorating, and they say they would even pay me. Everyone tells me to just start a business, but dont call myself an interior designer. I really want to, but I am scared to try because if a cilent wanted something that I knew would look awful like flower print wall paper, I would just refuse to do it. Or I am afriad that the person would just all out hate my design. Also I have only had one room in my house just turned out horrible. It was only one out of all the spaces in my home, the rest are beautiful. But that one room still haunts me. I worry about if I thought that would look good and it didnt. I might do that again someday.

Yes! Nothing makes me happier than leafing through magazines looking for idea's to incorporate into my home. I've recently redecorated my living room using the "old world charm" of leather and wood, with a grandfather clock for inspiration. My sons installed a Beautiful tin ceiling. Every time I sit in that room I look around and smile, it makes me sooo happy. My next decorating adventure is my front porch. My grapevine that climbs one side of the porch inspired me to make a screened in porch in Italian design where we can go to sip wine on beautiful evenings. We should all get inspired by something and go for it. If people focused more on their own personal lives, maybe there would be less trouble in the world and more peace and harmony.

Yes, I love doing this and one project just naturally leads to another. I'll finish something, sit down with a cup of coffee look the project over and it just pops into my mind how to make it really unique. It is never ending. I think one important thing is to coordinate fabrics, colors, accessories. Just imagine how you coordinate the clothing you wear. Like not wearing a business suit and sneakers with socks.

Yes I'm naturally good at it. Color, textures, themes and funiture you name it... with no training.

Saddly, I'm a manly-man (fat and old now) but you know a Home Depot guy, not an Italian Shoe guy. It is a talent I really don't advertise. I wish I would have gotten a skill like rip a baseball at 200mph ...but no. I got match trim paint to window treatment.

Your right, some people just have the touch. Fortunately I'm one of them. All of my friends and family call me when it's time for a change.
