Because there is no such thing!

2006-09-21 18:50:10 · answer #1 · answered by dixiemade 3 · 1 2

Because as I am all nice and cozy in MY comfort zone, it's really hard to feel the urge to start doing things that might demand any extra effort, or a change in my habits, or looking foolish, or additional/increased expenditure, or -especially- that implies any sacrifice of my magnificent lifestyle...
Nope, it is much easier to just ignore the whole thing or plainly deny it! The least I want is one more thing to worry about, with these abstract stories that I don't even appear too evident to me.
And if something indeed happens, it surely will in some God forsaken country that I don't even think it really exists (nor care), except on the News.

That's human nature... and only when we indeed feel the water up to the neck and start to actually feel pain, is when we really will start moving. Sadly, but that's how we are.

Personally I try to do my part... as a future Architect, my main interest is sustainability, and am involved in as many Green events as I can; I live close to work, so I can go by trolley or bike; at home I keep the A/A off perpetually, allowing for much healthier natural ventilation. Quick showers (most of the time, hehe), recycling, being nice to everyone around me and other things of the sort are the little I do to contribute with my grain of sand.

it is sad, back in the 80's it was important, i wonder myself why we stopped, they think just recycling once a week is enough. look at the way the weather is, i wonder if people just care more about more warm weather and less cold, if it was in reverse i bet they would care. captain planet and all the shows they did to help get the attention to change it went out the door and in came all the world wants and fun. pretty bad. i am a disaster nut, any show about natural disaster and i get it. i worry about the what if of the world. i worry about the way things are getting. a little at a time th news media has been showing more and more, but then we have the combating of the slows that people care about like dancer, adultery, etc.

THERE NEED TO BE MORE ATTENTION OF THE GLOBAL WARMING, ITS NOT A JOKE AND ITS NOTHING TO TAKE LIGHTLY. NO EXCUSES, NO DENYING IT. IT REALLY EXISTS

I'm doing my part to fight global warming. I use my car as little as possible and only use electricity when I need to. Mankind would be much better off without technology and society. I'm very in touch with the environment. I don't even eat meat. I highly doubt you're doing anyhing about this issue.

I don't ignore it, I am trying to kill it but the ******* bastard will not die. I think it is time to call SUPERMAN. I only pray that he will destroy it, he has never let me down before and he will not now. He will go to the North Pole and freeze the polar ice caps and save us all from this GLOBAL WARMING!!! Oh yeah, brace yourselves everyone it is about to get cooler and a little colder on this planet. SUPERMAN was just informed he is headed there right now to kill GLOBAL WARMING, he should be dead within the hour.

It's not clear that there's anything I personally can do to stop it. Global warming could be caused by humans but also could be part of natural climate changes. 1000 yrs ago it was much warmer than it is now - Vikings could comfortably settle in Greenland. I don't think the Vikings were driving SUVs.

Because I don't know who to fight. What do you suggest I do to "fight the effects of global warming"
Who do you want me to fight, exactly?
Are you suggesting that I should "call my congressmen?" And what are they supposed to do?
Are you suggesting that I "educate myself?" Is reading about it going to "fight the effects of global warming?"
What do you suggest I do?
Or do you just want to sneer at me for "not doing anything."
