It seems to me that if God is perfect and one of his roles is that of creator, then his creations should be perfect also, right? His creations are an extension of him, so if his creations aren't perfect then neither is he. That's how I see it. And our imperfection seems obvious to me. We make mistakes all the time. I've heard that God's ultimate plan is perfect. But that doesn't make sense to me because the plan includes much suffering and error on our part, which makes our lives imperfect and God too by extension. The whole idea of a perfect God doesn't make sense to me. What do you think?

Through Adam and Eve we WERE created perfect, but they got greedy and messed up. That was sin because they turned their back on God and said they knew better than Him. It's a downward spiral after that because unless two people are perfect, nothing they create together afterwards will be either. More on it here...

No, it does not make sense, but understand, we chose to go another way, to have our own little version of life, hence this physical plane of existence we call "life". God cannot interfere, for God's Nature is freedom, and we are part of God. And God knows this is but a dream, and that we awoke long ago, in our terms of time. We seem imperfect because we attempted something without knowing the intimate details...that is why it says that now we have to "dig in the dirt" just to survive...
"sweat of the brow", and all that, because before we became afraid and fell into a deep sleep, we knew our perfection.

well your question is an interesting one, but what is perfection, it is a very relative term, what seems perfect to you might not be perfect for me. e.g. blindness to us is an imperfection, but to animals living in dark caves, and deep sea, its totally perfect, in fact there having functioning eyes is a disability, as they are useless, and require energy to live, and are potential source of infection (this though is an extrema example but i think it does get the point across.)
Lets assume that perfect things exist then why are people born with disabilities like limbless children etc. its simple god did not create us, God created a system, we are created by that system. the system of reproduction. similarly god created systems. these systems are not perfect, (because nothing is perfect, not even god). God whom people think to be perfect isn't so perfect after all, First of all God is considered to be "He" a male, that's an imperfection in it self, and the list just goes on and on.
By the way God to date is one of Mans best creation.

1st of all, how do you interpret God's perfection. Is it without illness? Without failure? Without mistakes? Etc?
Everything has a place in this universe. When a leave fall from a branch, will you argue exactly on which spot it will land?

In the end, you have to ask yourself how do you interpret God's perfection. Everything has its place and purposes. How perfect should a thing be for you to see it as perfect? And will such perfection be appropriate to you, honestly? Where should the dry leave land?

I think God wants US to make the right choices, GOD is our parent. Sometimes he has to step back and let us fail, fall on our faces, succeed and whatever you might do.
God does punish as well, if you make bad choices, bad things happens and even in good choices sometimes bad things still happen.

I personally believe this way, I will live my life the best I can, I AM NOT PERFECT< I don't pretend to be. I know GOD and Jesus is there for me to have a relationship with, MY CHOICE> IF someone doesn't believe that's them.

God cannot be tempted but we can and sometimes we give into those temptations which is sin such as sex, lust that type of thing God is without sin we would've been perfect maybe if Eve hadn't given into the temptaion of eating from the tree of knowledge and bearing children wouldn't hurt because remeber when God confronted her about what she did, he said, "I will give you suffering in giving birth" so, they were perfewct until Adam and Eve ate of the fruit that God told them not to

Sin is the reason why we are not perfect and God is without sin. We must strive for perfection by living a Holy Life. Perfection can be attained if we live by Jesus standard and look to him for mercy and grace.

I think that it all comes down to one's idea and belief of what perfection is. Perfection of happiness and peace and love is the perfect accepting that all is not perfect. To relax and be happy that all does not have to be perfect. God's creation is perfected in a way that is perfectly meant to be. Sit for awhile and ponder your idea of perfection. Would that be a perfect idea of joy?

The reason we are not perfect is because we live in a fallen world. God made us and this world perfect. He gave Man dominion and Man turned around and gave his dominion to Satan. Now Satan is the god of this world. We will be perfect someday when Satan and all those who obey and follow him, even though MOST do not know it, will be cast into the lake of fire.

God made us perfect, but he gave us the option to stay perfect or to no. We chose to not be perfect the moment Adam and Eve chose to eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil

God is Love Perfected!

There is sense to it all, once we all fully understand the concept of Love.....we will be as perfect as God. How do we live with our own faults and the aggravation of other people's faults and become perfect love?

Not an easy task....and not one I am capable of.

Brilliant question!
