So are you ashamed of everything any Black person has done in history? Why should anyone feel ashamed for things that they did not do? I never enslaved a Black person, Never exterminated a Native American. The Japenese were responsible for Pearl Harbor.Hitler was most definitly NOT a white American. If I remember my history right Africans were selling other Africans of other tribes. So this means you are guilty of enslaving the Blacks, Also there were several massacres of the Natives Americans by the Buffalo Soldiers. So now you are guilty of exterminating the Native Americans. What about the Black Panthers? They persecuted people. So I guess you are guilty of persecuting other races. You bore me with this drivel.

I have no relation to actions by others.
What ever they did is gone...in the past, right, wrong or otherwise.
They are not me, I am not them, I was not the torturer at any time, as you hopefully are not the victim now or in the past.
We will always at some time no matter who we are, be a victim.
What point would there be to dwell on mistakes made by others, out of our control, in shame or guilt, instead of learning from them.
Dont get me wrong, to ignore it is as bad as doing....but to dwell on the sadness of it does no good, in fact it keeps the bad memory alive....do something positive about it, learn from it...prevent those actions in the future without joining that category of behavior, retaliation is worse and only proves weakness. Rising above it takes strength.
Many people of those groups deserve much more recognition for rising above it.
White americans have/do enslave, persecute, exterminate other whites as well. The same can be said of Blacks, Native Americans, Middle-easterners and every other culture that has or will exist.
It is a human trait.....unfortunate but true.
Crimes follow criminals and victims.....there will never cease to be criminals and victims. A curse? Humanity has many.
No I am not ashamed, I am proud.
Proud of the victims who prevailed in the end.
These things cannot be forgotten, they are lessons of how not to behave, how not to treat others, and need to be honored so they can hopefully not happen again on those scales.
Unfortunately....Humans behave in many ways by nature.
My question is why is America the target of the negitivity of the world all the time? Go to south africa, go to iraq, there are many countries, cultures and people who have done much worse, and sadly continue to do so.
Hitler was not american....we are the ones who helped end his reign of terror. Pearl harbor was an attack against us without warning, we helped end that hostility. Enslavement of blacks...we changed and prevented it in the end. 911, was not an action we did, we suffered. Exterminating Native Americans is no longer a problem.
We changed things, we overcame these, we evolved.

I am a white American. I don't feel any personal shame over anything that other people in history did. Are we cursed? No, we are blessed. Why do you think that people would want to come over here, some legally and others illegally though, if our country is cursed? That makes no sense at all. This question you posted is under the Immigration category, so I am assuming that you are somehow trying to vent your frustration of white Americans. We cannot help what race we were born into, or anyone else of any race for that matter. Why blame this generation for what the last generation or four generations ago did? And as for the 9/11 tragedy, why should white Americans feel shame over that? We were not the pilots who crashed into those Twin Towers. We feel terrible sadness, not shame. Many innocent people died and others such as firefighters gave their lives in trying to help the victims at the site in New York. For their bravery and their devotion, I feel proud.

I am a white American citizen. About the same time Blacks were
slaves in the USA my people(Greeks) were slaves to the Ottoman Empire for about 350 years. I will never be ashamed to
be white or American. It is America who fought a civil war and
destroyed slavery. It is America who contributes approximately
80% of the funding for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, world wide. It is
America that helped England and Europe destroy Hitler and the
Nazis. It was wrong of FDR to put the west coast Japanese in
the camps, but like the slavery situation, America has repented.
Without America the world would go downhill a lot faster than
it does at the present time. Pray for America that God Almighty
will heal our nation. And thank God Almighty we have a president
who is not afraid to stand up against the Islamo Fascist Terrorists.
I Corinthians 13;8a, Love never fails!!!!!

We ended slavery, the Nazis, the Soviet Union, and we will
end the Islamo Fascist Terrorists, with the Grace of Almighty God.

No, I haven't forgotten. I also had nothing to do with it. I never owned a slave or met one. I've never even known someone who KNEW someone who had/was a slave. I've never killed a Native American (or anyone else for that matter). Half of my family wasn't even here during that part of American history as my grandparents came here in 1947.
I also haven't forgotten about Pearl Harbor, Hitler, or Mussolini (who actually affected the life of aforementioned grandmother), but I don't blame people who weren't even alive at the time for the atrocities these people committed. They're dead. We should all be glad of it. My family left post-war Italy because they hated what had happened (they couldn't leave earlier), and they were treated horribly because of it. My husband's family fled post-war Germany and Japan for the same reasons. Today, they have exactly what they've worked for--no more and no less.
The repercussions from the events of 9/11 aren't finished yet, so of course it hasn't been forgotten.
Children are not responsible for the sins of their parents.

I am a white American and none of my relatives did those things. SOME whites did those things, not all. Even if they did, that doesn't make me guilty of anything. Just because someone 8 generations before me was a bad person doesn't make me a bad person. It's funny how most of the comments about whites being racist are racist in and of themselves. People enslaved blacks, and people 'exterminated' (your words) Native Americans, why does skin color have to even be brought up? You are categorizing all whites as being 'cursed' based on the color of our skin - which is racist. You sound just as racist as those you are referring to. EVERY race and nation has people that have done awful things to other people, not just Americans and not just whites. You need to read a world history book. It started way before America and way before whites. It is the nature of all mankind. Stop pointing the finger and then maybe everyone can try and move past it.

Most white Americans trace their roots to ancestors who have come from Ireland, Spain, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Finland, France, Greece or some other such place, and in an immigration influx which took place after slavery was abolished.
Most white Americans can't really claim their ancestors fought in the Indian Wars, because most white Americans have a lineage that may, MAY trace back to the late 1800's/early 1900's at the earliest.
Pearl Harbor? What of it? Or was that the white American persecuting the Japanese zero fighters in the sky with their bikini-clad girlfriends? Pearl Harbor?!?!?
White America, which is pretty much how America started, was able to lay a foundation of law, culture, faith and education that birthed the greatest nation in the history of mankind. We have come to the aid of MILLIONS of people, persecuted by their OWN governments or invaded by despots and dictators, not all of them white.
With US wealth and power at an apex, with more Americans as homeowners and business owners than ever before, with more Americans sending their kids to college, where's the curse for any of us?
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

The Blacks enslaved themselves. Native tribes in Africa would war amongst one another, the victor would take slaves and then often sell them to Europeans. Native Americans also had slaves to work their fields, just as whites did. Let us not forget that the indians were pretty good at exterminating one another long before white settlers arrived in North America. The Osage Indians were notorious for doing that, infact there is an instance recorded in history where an Osage raiding party slaughtered over 100 Kiowa's and the butchery was far more savage than Custers famous atrocity.
So in answer to your question, are all white Americans cursed, I would have to reply, we are no more cursed than any other race of people as all of humanity has a long history of treating our fellow man like crap.

I don't know what race you are, but why should white people be held all accountable or be ashamed of what they are when all races have their atrocities. You're only targeting white people because they're the most affluent at the moment, for the most part. That doesn't erase the fact that ALL peoples have lousy leaders and policies at times. Some races have long lasting racial or religious based wars that have spanned periods of thousands of years and the slaughtering of these people is still currently going on. What about those people? All races, and religions are guilty of these things. Why are you targeting just the white people?

People of all races have been killing each other since the beginning of time. People have been enslaving others for nearly as long. If white Americans are cursed, so are all the other races of the world. Have you read about the tragedies that took place in Asia during WWII? It was absolutley atrocious! And what about Rwanda 10 years ago? And the current genocide in Darfur? If you condemn the caucasions of the world for their ancestors mistakes, then you condemn every man, woman, and child, living and dead, in the same breath. At one time every people has been oppressed by someone else. If you believe that whites are cursed, then you must believe the human population in its entirity is. If, however, you believe people are more knowledgable, more aware, and more intelligent then their parents, then join me in trying to create a better world, instead of blaming those who weren't yet conceived for their fathers' sins.
