those who constantly spew forth language reeking with expletives are demonstrating their lack of communication skills, lack of civilized parentage, low intelligence levels, and probably an absence of toilet training.

i believe profanity has become a part of most American society. From what i remember a few years back there could be no profanity on TV. Now it is mostly limited to late night. Same as sex, drugs etc.

For myself- high school is where it started. At about 16 i able to use limited words with my parents and family.

I feel that it has become more acceptable/ tolerable. Just like gay people, marijuana, etc. Everything has advanced so fast however, we haven't seen the consequences.

Most parents work, so kids are more independent...... ah- i could go on...

You can’t change their world, but you can cultivate your own healthy environment.

I remember discovering how the world always tries to make you one of its own – in the army…

Scene: preparing the platoon to return their empty rifle cartridges. I couldn’t get my men to behave and my Sergeant didn’t have all the time in the world to collect cartridges. He told me, “Shout to them, ‘get the **** in line!’” I shouted the words – and I had to pinch myself to keep from laughing because it was so hilarious – and not effective!

Get the point? But seriously, for every crude phrase you can think of, there are much more delicious ways to get your point across. Go watch Black Adder!

If somebody resorts to cursing, it’s not just the anger speaking. A poor understanding of language and social conditioning are strong contributing factors. Which would take up more brainpower – constructing a grammatically correct argument, or punctuating a few vague words with profanities? You know the popular choice.

Now which solution do you want me to give you? Do you want me to say, only prayer, repentance and the Great Spirit can lead a constant profaner to the light? Or do you want me to say that the only way to prevent the bastardisation of language is to start children out on good values and teach intelligent language usage?

The mouth is just a voice that expresses the things in a person's heart. The only way for the language to change is for the heart to change first. No heart ever changes unless the person wants it to change. So how do you get others to change their heart? The question itself shows the dillema. It begs the question, "What right has anyone to change the heart of another?" The only way a person can have the right to change another is to have unquestionably earned that right.

So, is there anyone out there who has earned the right to change anyone, so long as he is given permission? Wouldn't such a person have to have good intentions? Wouldn't that person have to have a caring heart? Wouldn't such a person need wisdom on how to impact another (be a good counsellor)? Wouldn't such a person need to have a servant's heart and yet somehow lead at the same time? Who could such a person be?

"Oh wretched man that I am, who can save me from this body of death? (In other words, I'd like to change, but it isn't working, sin't there someone out there who can make the change in me?) Thanks be to God who give us the victory in Jesus Christ our Lord."

The apostle Paul wanted to change, but he couldn't on his own, so he turned to someone who had earned the right to change him.

I hope you are not offended by the answer. I mean no offense by it, but I would be doing you a disservice if i did not answer in the only truthful means that makes sense. If you want to change the world and reduce profanity, lead the world to the person that can work the change.
