With the debate unresolved, Hoopes and other farmers say they’re suffering.
“It’s going to take longer to harvest the potatoes,” he told The Associated Press. “I’ve spoken with other neighbors, and they’re having the same problem. Something needs to be done with immigration reform. We depend on (immigrant workers).”
Do you seriously believe with all those jobs out there, immigrants are stealing your jobs? Some Americans prefer to smooch off welfare while all immigrants find jobs as soon as they start looking. Does it ring a bell?

which is why a guest worker program would be a good thing. they get to work in the U.S yet they are just guest workers, they pay taxes and yet they would not be entitled to government assistance, they would not be able to vote, they would not have the rights of a citizen. i don't understand why this is so hard for everyone to grasp.

Actually, my grandparents farm. Everyone in the family chips in and does their share of the work. For harvest season, sometimes we have hired help, but they have been Americans. I have worked with these people and know them to be hard workers.It is not hard to harvest crops, if they people who need them harvested would do the work themselves, it would get done in due time. We don't work from sun up to sun down for nothing. Not everybody uses illegal labor to work the land. And we don't call it "going farming." We just call it working because it is a livelihood, not a recreational activity.

LOL, to funny. honey Ive done jobs mexicans wont even do, Ive cleaned up vomit, crap, Ive also worked fast food. the farmers are lying. they get government funding, ( farmer welfare) I dont think it would make a dent at all all illegals were deportred. I say send the prisoners in prison to do the work, they need to repay their debt somehow besides geting lazy in prison
I dont think migrants are stealing jobs, I think that farmers are greedy *** pigs who want to keep more money for themseves and migrants dont care about insurance so the farmers dont have to pay for that which costs the american tax payers more money.
And dont fool yourself, plenty of anchor babies on welfare as well

You know that is the trouble. The illegals used to do that work but now they won't because they can get better paying jobs. These better paying jobs are jobs the american would do. And the business would hire them cause they are cheaper labors. So you can't tell me that these people are not stealing american job. It showing right now with these famers.

come off it bunt, the only reasons the farmers want the illegals here is because they dont want to pay at least minimume wage to an american. and i don't moch off welfare. and if i did, that;s my god given right, i pay my taxes in. and yes there taking jobs from the americans. so how does it feel to know you'r all for the illegals getting below minimum wage. and another thing lazy a ss. i live in the south, i grow my own vegges. that way i know i'm not supporting illegal's, and agreeing with the farmers paying cheap labor. why don't you take you'r illegal butt home.
