About a week ago, I got pins and needles on my left arm and the left side of my head. It's happened around thrice since the first time and although it doesn't really bother me, I'm a bit worried as to what might be causing it. It doesn't happen at a specific time or after a certain activity - it just happens. I'm a 26-year old female, generally healthy and not overweight. Can anyone tell me what it could be?

GO to webmd.com and look up stroke. It could just be a pinched nerve. Also most insurace companies and local large hospitals have nurse advice lines you can call and they can help you figure out if it is an emergency or something that can wait until you can get into to your reg. doctor

I had origionally written a lengthy answer for you, but I have decided not to make a diagnosis via this forum. I have worked in the medical field for many years and am somewhat knowledgable but I am not a Dr. So I will just say this, your symptoms could either be the result of a serious condition or it could be something very simple. My guess is the latter, but in any case you do not want to chance this. GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS YOU CAN! At least then you will have peace of mind and know how to deal with it. Best Wishes, J

Look up hyperventilation. I had the same sensation when I hyperventilated once. I called 911, because I started feeling numb on my whole left side. I was upset about a terrible news I received and cried hysterically, which caused me to hyperventilate. The lady on the phone told me to calm down and breathe normally...more through the belly. It soon subsided.
Mention this to your doctor though.

Well, I would follow the advice below, and add this............If you are suffering from a stroke and in your car or something like that, here is how you can save your life. Start coughing and cough as hard as you can in between breaths. The deep coughs will contrict the heart and keep it pumping blood till you can get help.
