Please don't hate on me. I'm not a ultra liberal and I do believe there are times when we have to fight. I don't recall Christ ever condoning war. He only said He would bring war. I just want to know what people say about this. I'm not Christian. Please don;t spam me about going to church, heaven or hell.

Turning the other cheek was something Jesus told individuals to do when they were insulted. It wasn't a command to governments. Here's what the Bible says about governments and people like the ones who were responsible for the 9-11 tragedy.

Romans 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: 4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

I am a christian but I am not gonna bring heaven or hell into this...will just give you one Christians opinion on the matter. From a human standpoint. Not a biblical one.

Just because we turn the other cheek for 9-11 does not mean that we should not do whatever it takes to make sure it never happens again. If it means going to the country and taking out the people who did this to us in order for Americans to be safe then I say " so be it".
I hate the fact that innocent lives in that country are lost. But, I also despise the fact that thousands of innocent lives were lost on 9-11.
Christians or not, the only thing they were guilty of was going to work that day or taking a flight somewhere. All of this in the name of a religion.
We are not in the middle east fighting to prove who's religion is right or wrong. We are there fighting to protect our country. We are there fighting to help the majority of the people have a life without terrorism in their own country.

I think you're fooling yourself if you really believe that the events of 9/11 and all the war we've been involved in as a country afterwards can be solved by religious queries. I think it has more to do with the American way of life and how we so valiantly describe others as wrong or opressed who don't live by our value system. Considering that, how can we say we have so many freedoms when we look down on other cultures and countries for their chose value/religious system?

That said, this issue is a lot bigger than religion. So turning the other cheek would only bring about our demise at this point.

the western terrorism has been torturing the innocents for tooo long, 9/11 was a retaliation and nothing got to do with religion

I dont understand why some people like u would not consider reading history of their government and acknowledge their atrocities

u think only u people have the rights to live and others can die who cares?

My belief is this: while god does not condone war he does say that we should fight evil at every turn. If you believe what happened on 911 was evil then you should feel ok about what is going on.

Saint Paul affirmed that the state (the government) does not carry the sword (power) for nothing. That power is given by God not only to enable the state to protect and defend its people but also to execute justice. Ideally, the sword of the state is there as the arm of God to execute His wrath against those who harm His creation.

Ecclesiastes chapter 3 says there is a time for everything. I think that we as Christians had to stand up for our rights as Christians. It says there is a time for war.... so I guess we are free to fight.

Yes I forgive them, they still must face judgment, even of mans judgment!
But it is not vengeance, but cool true judgment!

For there murders, as any murder, they have to be put to death, for there sake, for they can not receive redemption while in the flesh, and the longer they live the greater the anger of God is kindled against them.

Christ did not say that he would bring war. Where in the New Testament did you read that he said this?

okay, we should protect ourselves and sometimes that means war, turning our cheek is like not fighting against someone just because they wern't kind and Christian, in other words, we should set a good example.
